I just got 86 Bee today and I'm pleasantly surprised by the little guy. It think I still like the alt mode and colors of Netflix more but the new one isn't bad at all.

I do hope they go all in on the retools like with Earthrise, it would be great to get a proper Bumper out of him.

Are there still no pictures of him next to Megatron, Soundwave, Shockwave, the Seekers, Astrotrain, ot Blitzwing? That's what I most need to see. He scales great with the Autobots, save Magnus who's stupidly oversized. I wouldn't mind seeing how he scales with Siege/Earthrise Magnus. If they're the same height that would be ideal for me.

I dunno how I feel about him. I think he needed beige instead of gray, to match KITT's interior. I know they gave him blue jeans to evoke Hasselhoff, but it just doesn't mesh with the overall deco. I'm also not fond of how they fouled up the alt mode with that fat valance panel with an autobot badge. This mold should have been an easy slam dunk, but it's like they went out of their way to give it flaws.

Yeah, I do too. I was a huge knight rider fan and I was actually watching some of my favorite episodes about a month ago and thinking how much I'd love a KITT transformer. Plus I just think the 80s Trans-Am is a timelessly cool looking car.

I'll probably get it and maybe see if the doofy valance they added under the front bumper can just be cut off. I really don't think the robot mode would look all that worse for it. I get the feeling it's only there in the first place because they wanted to stick an autobot badge somewhere, but not on top of KITT's alt mode, for accuracy purposes.

I bought Legends God Ginrai today for a not obscene price and all it's making me want is the Perfect Effect core robot that only goes for obscene prices these days. Maybe that'll go away when I have it in hand but it is a shame it feels incomplete without it.

I would love a proper commander Powermaster Optimus/Super Ginrai along the lines of the MP but I don't think anything is on the leak docket for the next year or two.

Clearly. My first car was a Trans Am, so as someone who is intimately familiar with the silhouette I can't overstate how disgusted I am with what Hasbro did to it. This was a highly anticipated toy for me that I've been wishing for since they started doing the crossovers, and they fucked it up so spectacularly that I won't even end up getting it unless it hits deep clearance, and even then I'll feel forced to keep it in bot mode.

Too much of a panel-former; the entire alt mode is basically hanging off of the robot mode limbs, and the front of the van is a dopey, parts-forming "shield" that you're probably just going to toss aside instead of actually using. This is the only one that is completely totally out of scale with the mainline. None of the others come close to MP scale. This was definitely a choice, seems they aimed this guy at the MP crowd after every previous crossover was left to rot and hit clearance and liquidation.

We're not talking about hypotheticals here. Hasbro did it, and they did it badly. If you're. Knight Rider fan, it doesn't look like the KITT you know and love. If you're a car guy it, doesn't look like a Pontiac Firebird. I initially thought they didn't get the licensing for it and had to intentionally make something off-model. That's how bad it is. If that is the result of your best efforts to include lights and sounds, simply don't include lights and sounds.

I'd say a hatchet or machete would be more brutal. Both require you to get just as up-close-and-personal, but unlike a dagger where it's 'stab a vital and you're done', the former two require you to repeatedly hack at your target.

I think it's possible that the 2026 Studio Series Commander is another Rodimus but they do something else with it to differentiate it from Kingdom Rodimus. Maybe do what DX9 did and make him an all in one while making his bot mode taller to match Optimus and Galvatron.

Ectotron is taller than he should be because he was retooled from a pre-Siege figure, but he still looks more proportional to other chug bots than Masterpiece. Also keep in mind that Caddy is a big fuckin car, so he should be one of the taller Autobots. He was made to scale with MP10 in alt mode. They look grossly out of scale with each other in bot mode because MP10's alt mode scales with chug cars, but Prime's bot mode in the show didn't properly reflect how tall he would be in relation to the other characters.

Are you blind to how awkwardly long Ectotron's legs are? You can make him shorter than chug bots by simply retracting them. These figures don't look out of scale with each other because the proportions are chug. Granted, we're talking toon scale bot modes. MP Ironhide is only a head shorter than MP10, and a 59 Caddy hearse is a much bigger car than a Nissan Vanette. The Vanette is about a 158 inches in length compared to the Caddy's 251 inches. The Caddy is also wider, at 80 inches compared to the Vanette's 63. Sandstorm can actively ruin his own paint if left in his helicopter mode since his tires are in contact with paint.
pretty much any recent transformer with those rubber tires will do it, and from the looks of things they're not gonna change it so the same goes for any future transformers with them.

To be fair, the so called rubber stuff that people having problem with all have the issue of direct contact with other plastic.

The old G1 and missing link all got chromed tire rims so they are more or less avoided of the problem. Another good thing is none of the wheel touches other parts of the figure beside the chrome wheels.

I probably have to remove the wheel from the new deluxe prime when it comes out.

Chrome looks nice, but it could flake or go bad once it starts getting prints from touching it. It's just a hassle to maintain despite how cool it looks, I'd ratther they use metallic paints (at worse it fades, but the fading can look really cool on occasion, so not all bad.

That's a disingenuous comparison because Bumblebee's character model was scaled smaller due to his original toy being a chibi minibot. If Ectotron had been in the original toyline/show, he would have been Ironhide's height at the very least. i personally did this for my takara VP and the kabaya is 5% nicer because there's no ugly brown hinge on his back/bunbarrell since he doesn't have to share a mold colourway

Legacy and whatever comes after it needs like 30% more Animated rep, I don’t really care if they’re the geewun-ified designs for the characters, the show is arguably tied for the title of best transformers show and it’s criminal we’ve only gotten like 3~4 characters from its universe. I get the unicron trilogy is the favorite of nostalgia wanking millennials but I’d really prefer if they sacrificed one or two glup shittos from it to give us more animated or perhaps the remaining beast wars designs (Rampage and Depth Charge cough cough). Lots of Animated characters either never got a toy, or only got a really shitty one so it’s the show most in need of some modern updates.

I never said other continuities, like the Unicron trilogy were beneath me or that I don’t like them. I actually don’t think the artsyle liberties Hasbro has taken with animated have been all that bad, I’d prefer more accuracy where possible but the toys have been good and the designs faithful enough to the source material. Animated Prime might be a little more muscular than he usually is, but cmon it’s not as bad as how Prime has been butchered or something like that.

Alright fair, you were saying "glup shittos" when UT, Rescue Bots, and others have also only been doing their main characters, so I was a little tilted at like "c'mon with these double-standards".
Personally I have a massive distaste for the G1ification, I think RB Chase actually is the peak ideal when it comes to translating artstyles; he's got the same proportions and details, and barely anything that feels "different" or out of place on his figure. For me, TFA Prime's panel lines, different proportions, and G1 Optimus details (leg vents, etc) are enough to make me dislike him.
But, fine, even artstyle aside, I just dont think they're good toys... Legacy Prowl is my favorite botmode visually, but his bikemode is just worse, with the wings failing completely to cover the sides of his form, unlike the og toy. Bumblebee's got an ugly head and his legs' reinvention is almost as stupid as LegEvo Hot Shot's (and he's got an ugly head that's neither accurate nor G1ified), and Optimus is a bizarre enhancement of the old Deluxe, carrying over its same flaws such as the utter lack of an abdomen. Why they didnt copy the braindead-simple TFA Voyager transformation, I don't know.

I'm just at a point where I've been so burned by the attempts they HAVE made, that I'd rather they just focus on making toys of things they're already okay at making: like G1, Beast Wars, the JP spinoffs, UT, and Rescue Bots. Maybe Car Robots and Bay trilogy, if they actually bothered...

Godzilla would look really dumb with a tail that fat at the base, and what's more there needs to be way more tail after that. and it can't just be a big flail weapon larger than the rest of his body.

I'd love a modern toy of this guy and other Brave villains like Draias. Wish Japan would get over their issue of making villain toys. There's that Masterpiece-style Seven Changer, but he was more of a rival character than a villain.

Although I've always wondered, if Bandai, GSC, or other companies were to make new transforming toys of Brave characters that were based on Transformers (like the other Geists or Shadowmaru), would they need to pay some kind of royalties to Takara or something?

Rights to the names, characters, designs, etc are solely with Sunrise (the intangible stuff).

Companies only need to obtain Takara's license if they were replicating the old DX toys (the tangible toy). Examples are Sonokong's Korean Brave releases and those CMS Gaogaigar which are heavily modified from the DX. However, I'm not sure if they even need to obtain the toy license now since design patents like these only last 14 years max, they are very weak.

I was dreading this figure as it was being shipped due to the reports of knee joints just failing. Got him in hand and abused the fuck out of the knees and he still works fine and I don't see any stress marks on the shitty engineering where the ratchet is on the inside. I wanted to hate this figure but he's actually pretty good. He has issues like not being able to close his hollow back and his shitty hands, but other than that I like him.

There are barely any legal barriers with Braves at all. They just need to obtain the license from Sunrise who's still friendly with them even after being acquired by Bandai group.

The real IP hell was B-Daman Bakugaiden and they managed to get even that licensed for T-Spark.

It's not obvious with Braves since they only did MP Exkaiser, but Takara had a Votoms toy line throughout the 2000s into mid-2010s despite it being one of Sunrise's hottest IPs and its use in the SRW games.

More recently there are Gundam Tomica and Bandai Zoids and Shinkalion, so if there was any rivalry between Bandai and Takara, it's non-existent now.

I also came around on Burning Megatron AKA Boat Parts Strapped to Megatron. I hated it on the old toy. Looked so stupid. These boat parts don't look like they even do anything but apparently in the show have like 100 lasers on them that you can't see. I think he can look cool given the right poses with this figure at least.

Imagine paying 80 bucks for a car carrier+cab combo where the carrier can't be hauled by any other capable toy like Optimus or Huffer, and transforms into a botmode with obscenely large feet, chest, and shoulders, to the point his otherwise-normal head is always getting cut off by his own chest - and you can't even get a white core bot out of it, nor give the armor to Optimus, as God intended.

I’m personally really struggling to decide whether to get him (because he does look perfect, however overblown the price is in comparison to those accessories) or just get Magic Square’s Light of Peace figure instead, seeing as I’m pretty sure there’s only a $50~ price difference. I’ve never actually owned a third party figure before (since I’m kind of a cheapskate myself), but I’d definitely start with LOP if I were to get one.

Same, have to clear my desk before taking pics.
I get what you're saying about basic poses, but I think its cool to start off with them to build into a more dynamic pose, it also helps to have a decent stand for the smaller figures.
I don't even know how I'd go about taking pics of a titan class figure.

I think it looks pretty cool, a pain to pose I imagine but prolly worth it.
I was very much looking forward to Tidal Wave but I think I'll wait to see if they do an Energon deco with the possibility of some fixes. I doubt it'd look very good in Burning mode with Armada Megs tho.

Nucleous has a stylish color scheme and head sculpt, but Calcitron is my favorite of the three. I like Road Pig significantly more than Crashbar, but I also feel the same about Lockdown compared to the other two versions of the mold. If you mean the SS86 Bumblebee, I'm surprised by how much I enjoy him. A nice, compact little guy. Good picks, anon.
