>>11094004Hey! I have that guy. He's pretty rad if you handle him with kids gloves.
To your point, its not the color so much (although it does have some to do with it) as its the metallic flakes they mixed into the plastic. Two issues: that it doesn't mix properly (you can tell by the swirls and unevenness of the color, even in the toy you posted) and the metal flakes leach a specific chemical into the plastic that makes it brittle, especially on those swirl lines.
It hasnt really been fixed, they just avoid the combo now, and opt for stronger mixes (even though it looks like shit).
The most recent gps sufferers are thinks like movie protoform starscream and apparently Unite Warriors Motormaster (he has gun metal colored plastic)
Not much can be done unfortunately, suggestions of a certain oil may seem to work in slowing it down, but thats about it. I've often wondered ifit would be possible to simply reheat the gold bits to a point right before they start to melt, to see if it would meld some of the bonds back together.
Bonus video of how fragile Beast Wars Randy is. He was packaged in beast mode, which is spring locked, so even if you never touch him, theres a change of him exploding like a grenade once hes out of the package.
