Not shocked at Shockwave, like Soundwave and Megatron, they've also been pushing his Siege toy a lot, so I expected another attempt pretty soon and he did show up in the movie.

Btw, my Amazon Tidal Wave is already showing significant stress marks on one knee. I haven't molded it, just compressed the springs and added some shock oil. I've only transformed it 5 times so I'm probably returning it once it breaks or next week.

NTA but my experience with image generators is that they assume all Transformers are Optimus Prime or Bumblebee. Or Bayverse Megatron sometimes. If you don't specify Bumblebee, it'll usually make an Optimus. Rectangular chest, helmet crest, antennas, square shoulders. I think a model would need to be trained specifically on Transformers (or Go-Bots in thus case) to produce anything close to accurate.

They were all available at retail up to Motormaster. Theyve always been extremely poorly distributed and hard to find. Walmart only ever got Jetfire. All the rest have been basically Target exclusives, as far as retail goes. We even used to get the Titans at retail but somehow Scorponok killed that. Gamestop is picking up the slack lately. Great to see Magmatron show up on the shelves. I want one.

Last week I got Legacy Skyquake and his left hip chewed itself smooth in like 5 min.
Today my Swoop’s hip ratchet went smooth. Same leg. I dont think it chewed it tho. Same thing happens on the other Dinobots. Problem is they set Swoop’s screws very deep down. None of my bits reach. Well, at least he can be fixed easily with the proper tools. Skyquake’s offending parts are pinned shut

So, I've gotten a few new characters over the past two weeks - SS86 Swoop, Filch, Ferrak, the Gobots 3-pack, the Cliffjumper/Tyrantulas/Squeezeplay/'Tarn' (looks more like the Decepticon Supersoldier from Cyberverse) multi-pack, and the Gamer Edition Decepticon Soldier. Since I've already shown off my Filch, people here have already discussed Swoop, and all the others are just repaints of characters we've all seen before, I'll focus on the Decepticon Soldier.

First: I must admit that I've never played the game he's from, so all I know about him is that he's a generic mook and apparently intended to be an armybuilder. Even though I'm not familiar with him, I can tell they skimped a bit on the paint; not only does the artwork on the box suggest that he's supposed to have a lot more purple, but you can see all the molded details on him that were clearly intended to have color. I'm a bit disappointed, considering this is a Studio Series release - aren't they supposed to have a higher budget than the mainline? Wasn't the point of Studio Series to try to be more accurate to the source material?
Lack of paint and visibly hollow legs aside, this guy isn't actually terrible. His robot mode has some good range of motion - rotating hips, swiveling biceps, wrists on balljoints that can turn and even be angled slightly, and so on. He's missing ankle rockers, though, which is another ding against him. Still, I find him easy enough to pose, and I like his gun gimmick - his right arm pops off at the elbow and can be replaced with his gun in a Rockman/Samus-esque kind of deal; the arm can be attached to a slot on his back when the gun is mounted, or the gun can be stored in the same slot when his hand is in its normal configuration.

Alt mode is simple, but the end result is solid and looks pretty cool - you clip his legs togetehr, flip down the wheels, spin his hips all the way around, fold up his 'windshield' from his heels, tuck in the arms after folding the hands into them, then flip his backpack up and over to cover his head and torso. His gun can be mounted to his car roof, but since the storage slot from his robot mode ends up right on his back, you can also plug it in there for a more streamlined looking car.
While I like the futuristic greebling details all over him, like with his robot mode, it's pretty clear there was supposed to be a lot more paint here. What the hell happened to the budget?

Comparison to the new 'Prime Universe' Cliffjumper - he dwarfs Cliffjumper by quite a bit, and is a tiny bit bigger than Armada Hotshot or any of the previous WFC Sideswipes we've gotten recently.
Anyway, he's got his ups and his downs; I can't help but feel he'd be so much better if he had all the paint he was clearly intended to have. regardless, for an army builder, he's pretty neat, and he feels more solid in-hand than his pictures led me to believe (hollow legs notwithstanding). I might pick up one or two more of him, if I can find some good paint...

One last thing - while a few people have posted Squeezeplay, nobody seems to have mentioned that he's got flip-out armpit cannons in beast mode (courtesy of Mindwipe's small wings from the original use of the mold). I just thought that was kinda neat, though it's a shame you can't use them in robot mode.

This was never the case, it's just a spinoff line that focuses on the films and uh, games now, I guess. Gamer edition has been pretty consistently half-baked though, it feels like the people in charge of it don't even actually want to make it.

Crasher and Artfire(pre-yellowing) are really cool, I messed around with them alot.

What do you think about the colours on Tarn? I quite prefer them to his singular release, almost makes me glad I missed out on him the first time since I got more value out of the 4 pack.

So in addition to paying the $34.99 USD for the base figure, you're shelling out an additional $55.93 USD - enough for a whole new figure and thensome - for an 'upgrade' kit that completely removes the franchise's primary gimmick, and on top of that, the head still looks like shit. I care about two things from this franchise. One, that the toys look like the character they're supposed to be depicting. Two, that they have satisfying transformations.
Antagony as-is doesn't look anything like any of her comic depictions, and with the upgrade kit has no transformation to speak of. My point was that the 'sexy' kit does absolutely nothing to fix the toy's problems, but costs even more than the base figure - and there are idiots out there who will pay for it regardless.

Huge TFW2005 interview with the Transfomers design team. Haven’t had a chance to read through it all, but from what I’ve seen:

- Lost Lights Crew constantly discussed as getting new toys (Warden is really into IDW)
- Studio Series looking to introduce comic characters (IDW, but I hope some Skybound stuff too)
- 14 year 'nostalgia' plan. Everytime something reaches 14 years it's in the cards for some figures to cash in in nostalgia
- Core class sticking around
- no comment on the reactivate games
- possible bay film concept series
- unsure if the legacy format for toylines will continue

There’s probably more I still haven’t read here though.

That said, he also did repeat how many characters need to be done in that scale, and how he really wants to do the Armada Minicons and that they can be sold on their own, so idk what they're planning man.

He seems to mention Animated Omega Supreme a lot though, and he seems to be very gung-ho about Japanese G1/BW.

What interested me was he was very into the idea of selling accessory packs and blast effects, not just for TF but for GI Joe too, as well as flight stands. I really hope we do someday tbdesu, I'd kill for good accessory packs.

I doubt they'd use Megs again - they already made Tyrannocon from him. If they did go with the Spino, it would likely be an all-or-mostly-new mold, like they did with the Dilophosaurus chick. Given the modern trend of 'recycle existing molds, cut as many corners as possible', the Kingdom Dinobot/Grimlock mold really seems like the most likely option for use in a third Jurassic Park crossover, especially since the raptors were always one of the most iconic dinos in the movies. If they don't do Blue, I'd be up for The Big One from the first movie, one of the 'tiger' raptors from the second, or the feathered male/white alpha female from the third movie as our raptor representatives.

Well, fuck - I didn't even notice any color change on mine until this post, but sadly, it seems the blue on the underside of his left wrist, the purple of his right shoulder joint, and purple of his left ankle joint are all starting to turn color. What a shame - I own pretty much every figure people tend to complain about yellowing on, and this guy's literally the only one who's ever done that for me - I even went and rechecked everyone else before making this post.

I am really enamored with the Commander’s proportions in comparison with these two, and since I have both on my shelf, he’ll fit in perfectly. He’s got that round, but still bulky shape that reminds me of that smaller-scale high end Prime from 10/15ish years ago, I forget what line it was (they also did a Galaxy Convoy too?), and it’s different enough to make him really stand out. He’s a cool guy. An alright figure with many weird things going on and several outright design flaws.

For those unaware, his knees tab straight in car mode. The knees tab into painted white plastic. Hasbro designers know better than to make anything tab in to paint. The legs are black plastic, covered in a thick layer of white paint. Im sure this has something to do with the figure being a multi-use mold, but they shouldve fucked up the colors on Shadow Stirker instead of this. Sideburns legs should have been priority.

The car mode is totally unfortunate. On my first try, I am completely unable to get the roof to tab together. I see this is a widespread issue with the figure. Ill try to rectify that.

While I don't put much stock into reviews, I was watching Baltmatrix's one for Chase saying he found the mould boring and I just don't see it.
Obviously, Cliffjumper is more striking with his bright red but even so I enjoy the mould and transformation very much.
Only thing I could agree with is the "wings" on his back being annoying as they get in the way.

His recent review of Tidal Wave was interesting, didn't mention any issues with the knees on his copy.

I really do think Tarn (and I suppose Bludgeon) is one of the best moulds of Legacy.
My only gripes would come from the alt mode, mainly the visible hands that everyone else has said already.
But the poseability and personality you can get out of that is really impressive on this guy.

Specifically about this deco of Tarn, I love how the orange pops against the purple and the gold, while minimal, also draws the eye quite well.
Really happy with this figure.

It looks like shit and actually decreases posability. It makes it impossible to outstretch the arms forwards or backwards and the inward bend really doesn't make up for it. He literally cant aim his cannons like say, megatron would able to. Just raise both of his arms up and marvel at how utterly retarded he looks, it completely ruins his silhouette.
They could've just been jointed on the shoulder instead of the chest, or BOTH, but they fucked it up.

It really sucks because aside from those dogshit shoulders it's a really well posing figure, but that design just blights ever figure it touches. It's the main reason why I think SS102 is shit and gets btfo by SS38.

His legs just being the T-Rex legs is very nice, they look extremely clean and the ratchets in the hips and knees are as smooth as you'd want them to be.
Not a big fan of his hip skirts since they're kinda clunky but I understand there's quite a bit going on here so there was bound to be something sticking out. I'd only wish they'd be on a mushroom peg so they could rotate and look slightly cleaner to match the rest of the legs.

His lower half manages to be quite poseable regardless which is always appreciated.

Magmatron's top half unfortunately is not so poseable but only so much can be done with his design of course.
I'm not even really sure if he has a proper waist swivel, it rotates a small amount but the back flaps stop anymore movement to get anything meaningful for poses.
Obviously the head is a bit of a pain but again what can you do?

I don't think his articulation scheme is perfect by any means, but its certainly a lot better than even some leader class figures can boast of.
I'm always intrigued by what articulation they can fit into a transformer considering it's not really something too many TF collectors care about, so its neat that some of the designers do indeed concern themselves with how a robot mode poses and stuff.
We may not get another Tarn or Bludgeon for a while but hopefully they can use them as a stepping stone to include better articulation that also looks good in future transformers.
so in a way I'm still happy with them, especially over less articulated ones.

Haven't transformed Magmatron yet but so far so good, I'm fairly pleased with him.
Solidly constructed and a great design to look at.

Not sure how I'd rank him among other commanders.
Last one I opened was Armada Prime and right now hes probably just ahead of Magmatron.

About $30 (when on sale) more than the Commander, and $200 less than the masterpiece. No trailer is unfortunate (if you’re into that sort of thing) but otherwise the lack of kibble, high posability, and the properly colored chamber is a definite improvement.

The Commander Class figure is good (I’m probably gonna buy it myself), but this is slightly better for not that much more and way better than the MP for way less.

That 'Tarn' is actually one of the Decepticon Supersoldiers from Cyberverse, not Tarn himself. It's another armybuilder like 'Tyrantulas'.

Yeah, I agree it's stupid, especially since that $80 pack has TWO armybuilders in it. It dos, however, mean that the previous anon can own both the rerelease of the original Tarn and this guy at the same time, since they're technically two different characters, just like Tarantuals and Tyrantulas.

I've got the chace version and i agree with balt, i was really excited for the figure and i enjoy the transformation, but the back wings and the general articulation of the arms really let it down, ive got the recent upgraded ko of the prime 1st edition cliff and its a way more of a fun toy, if you only want the set for cj just skip it and get the ko

I'm glad someone else seems to enjoy this figure as much as I do. I have the original too, but the new one has some charm. Vehicle mode is a travesty however, even excluding the shitty flames. I just can't stand modes that just do not tab together at all and stay tabbed.
