>>11104742I had been scoring a handful of essentially defective packaging DC Collectibles and Icons and the like that were probably freight damage auction sales by one of the third party distributors, or which had been sold by the manufacturer back to one of those Close Out merchants who then turns around and dumps stock to people like Ross or Big Lots, but since some of these cartons and window display (think those Diamond Select Gallary boxes) were also fucked up, this seller on EB was posting them individually or at made up lots (no rhyme or reason) at decent starting bids and it was pretty easy to win those auctions at just the starting price.
Last year right before the holidays, the seller probably wanted to get out of the collectible business (they still sell sporting goods and auto mechanic crap and other stuff) and sold a bunch of boxes of these, but at freight shipping only (so you had to be able to accept freight). I got a local store to agree to accept delivery at either a flat fee or they would go through the box with me and pick out stuff to resell, but I didn't want to bid too much to end up having to re-sell a bunch of crap I didn't want in the first place.
All of it would have been a bargain either way.
