Yeah, but it can take ages to be delivered and when it is lost, it's lost. Also don't expect great quality, it's a gamble. A lot of the bricks can be toxic, because the sender doesn't have to abide (read doesn't care about) by USA or European rules, so don't let kids or animals near them or build while sweating.

This is misinformation, aside from a few Chinese atoms here and there I've never experienced any kind of toxicity and I've ordered plenty of stuff from Ali. Shipping times have averaged 2 weeks for me, with outliers on both ends. Sometimes stuff does get lost, had that happen to me just this month but it's only the second time out of countless orders over several years, no different than any other online retailer and they're good about refunds.

Thanks OP for the new thread, did the last one but it was a ghost town until just before falling off the board, already having to keep the army men gen alive just about on my own so it's greatly appreciated.

Heres a set I got off aliexpress. Its the sembo M-ATV! Cost me about 20 bucks including shipping. The set comes with 3 odd looking sembofigures. They do have more articulation but they just look kinda gay.

The car itself looks nice and spacious but it is very hard to reattach the roof of the car when they are inside because their helmets were pressing against it. Also, the roof is hard to get off because sometimes it'll take half the car with it. Its just not very accessible unfortunately. Also the gun turret on top doesn't spin and is stuck in forward position so there isn't a whole lot of playability besides driving the thing around if im gonna be honest.

And heres the other set I got, this tank from GULO GULO. The fine people over at GULO GULO have designed a pretty good budget tank coming in at $22.79. There is not much articulation on the tank turrent though, it can only move a few centemeters in each direction. The tank comes with four pretty decent looking minifigs though two of which are cute girls, so for me its definitely worth the price.

And here's the two sets together! The MATV also comes with this army bike which is shown in the middle. Pretty good value although there could be some improvements. I've bought alot of other sets on Ali recently so I'll try to share them here before the thread dies.

Sembo has some decent tanks, shame about the armored car. Fairly certain at least one of these tanks is a Gulo Gulo; the set including half and half male and female figs stirred faint memories (got these a year ago) but I'd have to track down their booklets to be sure - figs in pic for scale only. Both are different Leopard 2 variants, right around the time a certain nation was pressing them into service as minesweepers.

Been falling behind in reviewing the various Chinese legos I keep buying, partly from spending most of my spare time on army men lately. I finally completed my collection of the Kazi Military Power line and it was a bit anticlimactic, though I was suitably impressed by the trio of combat jets plus AWAC I saved for last. Meanwhile I have several Jie Star sets picked up from the liquidation centre, recently moved into a larger building with improved interior and tidier shelves; will probably build those next.

Mein neger, been steadily building them up as a respectable faction in their own right. The Chinese keep building on them too, their latest addition is a king figure, mine arrived today. Need to get back to my medieval armies, took a break to focus on army men stuff but I've been getting in little shipments here and there to keep it going.

Yeah I think that grey leopard was also being sold by the seller I purchased from. I have a sembo humvee that I haven't built yet and also got the panzer maus from panlos, which will probably take a while for me to get to.

Its a shame there isn't alot of new weaponary being used in ukraine. Would be cool to see sets from the cutting edge of military tech. Maybe they could do that russian turtle tank I keep seeing, although it probably wouldn't be hard to moc. Hopefully these knockoff brands will surivive ww3.

A hand-me-down country with a hand-me-down military versus a country that puts most its points into new long range tech while occasionally upgrading tried and true grunt gear. I think everyone with "cutting-edge" weaponry is very nervous watching this dronefest go down, much like that one pope who tried to ban crossbows in medieval times because it meant a nobody could kill one of his betters with a simple pull of a trigger. Everyone was hoping for EndWar; instead we're getting Battlefield 1, with drones.

Chinese brands can survive the controversy of making Hitler or bootlegging Star Wars sets but I don't think they could salvage the fallout from western consumers of making Ukraine war sets in current year. Especially if they need to be pro-Russian.
Won't be anything new in this war in terms of equipment until Russia finally battle tests more unmanned ground drones. It still fits into the neo WW1 analogy this whole war has been with how FT-17s were meant to swarm the battlefield with sheer numbers of little armoured vehicles.
Black Ops II was honestly quite prophetic and even playing the game as a teen, I already felt the vast contrast between a high tech conventional military and massed drone weaponry and that the proliferation of the latter really makes more sense than the former.

There are sets of both sides on AliExpress, done in a very neutral manner as far as I've seen: HIMARS mocs with Ukie colors, sets of Ruskie and Ukie infantry and special forces, even little molotov cocktails with their respective flags on the bottles. China is content to sit back and watch the west fight among themselves and we the toy collectors are all too happy to snap up what they make.

I remember a video from earlier this year of a toy fair somewhere where Sluban was exhibiting new sets, among them a number of newer Russian vehicles (Pantsir and some others I forget) with a new Abrams or Leo 2 iirc. Still waiting for these to drop; last year they were quick to put out a wave of modern Russian gear (T-80, Typhoon, Mil-35, Ka-52).

Not sure if/when we'll get one, the pic above came out a few years ago and doesn't seem to be available anymore. Managed to get one back then, it really does come with a blood-spattered ISIS flag. I'd like to think we'll get an assault paraglider, bonus points if the pilot has the "I don't appreciate you" face.

Most would look odd next to each other. Lego Speed Champions are and look like they are built of common blocks and often have play features, fit minifigs, etc. and tend to look like a car made of lego. The Cobi "Cars" line uses specialized custom parts to make a smooth, more realistic looking car with no play features or minifig compatibility.

Was gonna upload a video showing the multiple cameras being used to show the timeline, but the upload limit is smaller than it was 2 years ago.

The selfies and group photos are seperate videos. It happens way before the Russian tanks show up.
When the Russian tanks are rolling up, everyone is packing shit up, yards away from the destroyed armor and a few soldiers are watching the tanks roll up, pointing and thinking they're Ukrainian tanks.

For some reason, i can't find the survivor only video, where the cameraman is running away.

On the topic of reddit/women moments and geolocating I remember a story from years before the current conflict from an anon from one of the scandinavian countries who served in the military. He talked about an exercise where one side's artillery were consistently able to wipe out the other side cuz their female members kept posting on social media throughout. I get that opsec nowadays is hard when tiny drones are almost constantly overhead but at least do the basics eh.

I think back to that part of the Ken Burns series on the American Civil War, when photos taken after the battle of Antietam were put on public display in Washington D.C. and for the general population it was the first time they'd ever seen what war is really like. At the time it was quite shocking; even if many of the shots were staged, the bodies on display were quite real.

It's almost surreal to be watching a warzone in near-realtime, from thousands of cameras across thousands of miles of frontline, thousands of real human beings dying before our eyes. As a species we're at about rock bottom again, feels like.

I think it was with Egypt and being on /k/ where I realize how small the world really is, since there were anons there who were talking making plans to go into the fights/battles.
That was surreal, and i actually worried for anons who i didn't even know existed until that day.

By the time the Clankening happened, it was already normal for us to watch this shit in real time. So it's not shocking anymore, but most people don't care. They barely even know Ukraine is still at war, muchless what's going on in first world countries like France and their riots/protests.
You say we're at rock bottom just because we're allowed to see war, but that shit has been going on for ages already. All through the 90s it was filmed, albeit censored by the media. Kosovo, Sarajevo. Various other Balkan and Warsaw shit. Nevermind unfilmed shit throughout the 50s-80s. This is all just SSDD.
I think rock bottom for our species is that apathy, but even that's also SSDD. Only difference is we choose not to pay attention to that real time brutality, instead of ignoring the 15 second blurb on tv or the newspaper article on page 8.

The apathy is what I was alluding to, that and the inhumanity of it all. Cracking jokes about specific instances of death or serious injury caught on film and gone viral - the ukie guy jumping on a mine or the russian tank driving over a mine and disintegrating in a flash - this is the kind of thing soldiers on the front lines do as a coping mechanism. None of us keyboard warriors are anywhere near those front lines (that I know of anyway), very few will have been in the past.

Had an online friend many years ago, he was fun-loving, jocular, bigtime metal head. Then he did a tour in Afghanistan. When he came back he was visibly different, even for just being a chatroom friend you could tell the difference. He never outright said it but he strongly implied he'd had to kill some people while deployed.

I certainly get the point of a lot of the footage we're shown is for its propaganda value; ukies spam gore of russians getting droned, russians spam mechgore of ukie armor getting droned, back and forth. Sure we've had a lot already in the last decade but the wars in Ukraine and Israel/Palestine have taken that up to 11 and to wider audiences than ever before. Couple that with all the other bad things going on and yeah, we're definitely touching the rock bottom that got most of humanity erased in the distant past.

Chinese military legos dump commencing, starting with some Kazi. First up a KJ-2000 AEW and Xi'an H-6 bomber from their Military Power line. Not much to say, other than I really like them and they're pretty good representatives of the real-world aircraft.

Last batch from the Kazi series, a trio of armored vehicles and a self-propelled gun, specifically ZBD-03 IFV, PCL-181 SPG, Type 63A amphibious light tank and Type 99 MBT. Wanted to highlight the ZBD-03 in particular for the APC/IFV enthusiasts known to lurk these threads, especially the good-sized if spartan interior that could probably be customized some. The gun is comically oversized (uses the same piece as the Type 99 kek) but that could be adjusted as well. Interesting fact about the real-world IFV, it's relatively light and designed to be airdroppable.

Lastly a couple of light combat vehicles from Jie Star's Mission Glory series, same as the warships above. Fun little designs, a couple of odd decisions made in the building instructions but they came together well enough in the end.

The names provided are pretty generic - tan vehicle is a "combat truck" while the grey pickup is a "special combat vehicle", would imagine they have real-world inspiration but there's no shortage of candidates.

I looked around for those but it seems hard to find jie star stuff in the states. I did see a jie star abrams tank online for 35$ and it looks a bit better than the sluban one though i'm not sure how the part quality compares.

About on par with each other, got plenty of sets from both companies. Most of my encounters with Jie Star have been through the local liquidation centre over the years, probably seen some on Ali as well.

Man those are some good ass prices. I don't think I have any liquidation centre near me. Closest thing might be a binstar where I've found some 5$ sets like this zelda funkopop but nothing too interesting.

Those are in maplebucks too, even better when converting to burgers. Pretty sure they source most/all of their chinese legos direct from China, often end up cheaper than Ali too. Every so often there's been other epic finds like pic related, can't recall these ever hitting shelves in the city when they were new but suddenly there's small mountains of 'em for five a pop. Was fun middlemanning a bunch to different anons in the mega gen, heh.
