My botcon Cannonball has the shin spikes swapped and paint peeling off from the thigh. It doesn't seem to affect anything but wtf fun pub. Why do people still like them?

Fuck overpriced limited exclusives.

Also I think Cannonball is my favorite from the star seeker line besides maybe Filch. Don't have Roadpig or Thundertron yet.

Filch is best girl, even if she technically doesn't belong in the Star Seeker line - a bird who steals based on animal compulsion and is for the most part unaware of the problems her kleptomania causes is not the same as a band of pirates who steal for profit and cause intentional harm. She IS dangerous, but there's no malice behind it and she's literally too featherbrained to understand the mess she's causing.

He probably meant this one, though honestly the Battlemaster could have worked, too. I still think they should have made a new mold entirely for her - not just because the head, wings and tail all would need to be retooled no matter what mold you slap her on as it is, but also because the current Airazor options are too small. Filch was HUGE - she could carry off an RV, pin down both Cliffjumper and Strongarm at the same time under each talon, fly off with an entire support beam for a bridge, and had Bumblebee hanging off of her back at one point.

I've been struggling with this. I was thinking it'd be cool to recreate one of my favorite scenes in Yu-Gi-Oh when Yugi [spoilers]pulls the Red-Eyes to save himself from[/spoilers] the 3 Blue-Eyes. Obviously need 3 Blue Eyes for that.

But another part of me thinks it makes no sense to want to recreate that scene in toy form. It already exists in perfect form in episode 133 that I could replay at any time. Having it in toy form really accomplishes nothing except maybe look neat at the cost of burning a hole in my wallet and eating up at ton of space.

I'm so retarded that I can't feel which side is right. But Amazon is selling them at 15% off so I was thinking there will never be a better time to grab 3 and see how it feels. Maybe it would give me some clarity. I am still conflicted about what to do, but there are many days left in the return window so I have plenty of time to keep mulling it over.

TR Overlord is decent but not worth todays aftermarket prices. If you can manage to get it cheap though it's definitely worth having.

I never liked Hot Shot, but I'm quite happy getting the Powerlinx version with Jolt on the cheap. Granted I was after Jolt more than him, he turned out to be a really pleasant surprise. Almost want to get Starscream for the star saber but I'll just grab a legit one for my minicon collection

Guy who asked about movie Sideswipe yesterday. Sidearm is only lacking the blades but I can deal with that. I'll get an upgrade kit or something from Shapeways and such.

I was thinking of looking for a figure to turn into Sunstreaker but no idea which. I'll use the head of a ROTF Swerve I have lying around. The first candidate was a Jolt of my choice due to the cool robot mode and all the chances between each version but then I remembered his hideous altmode is always unscathed by these changes.

It's good in a way, but for there's also nothing wrong with one-offs that look the way they're supposed to, or at least without melding it too far into this current aesthetic. The early Prime figures in particular are awful, Bulkhead and Arcee look nothing like they should, for example, so at this point who are you even making these for? They did Animated Optimus decently but Prowl just ended up boring. The Armada and Cybertron figures fit well, so I'm definitely happy with these (though not including minicon ports is incredibly shortsighted, which are just 5mm ports so they can also be used for other weapons too).

Obviously whether or not something is cool factors into my decision. I have collected long enough to know that just because something is "cool" doesn't mean that it is "good" or I will still think it is worthy of being in the collection 6 months from now.

Legacy Metalhawk is a great example. I like the character and thought the toy looked cool. Instant PO. Now? I think the colors suck, even the new repainted one highlights how ugly that color scheme is in the first place. Plastic feels....idk, shitty? And he's quite hollow. He may have looked "cool" last year when I bought him but now he's on the chopping block. Just not impressed.

I checked the transformation and the chest has two layers. One is absolutely necessary as it connects the two sections of the robot's torso, but the other, which has the chest sculpt proper, is more like armor and doesn't seem to do much for the structure. The sides of that piece are also needed for the car mode but not the center which has the robot chest sculpt.

Alternatively, I didn't care for TLK Hot Rod nor his weird head so I could use this as an excuse to buy that amazing toy and plop ROTF Swerve's head on it.

This is something Im currently wrestling with. I am basically having an existential crisis over the fact that it is impossible to own every figure I want. The conclusion Ive come to is “why would you want to anyway?” Then there would be nothing left to collect. The true blackpill is lusting after something is often more enjoyable than actually owning it. Took me years to even process this concept much less accept it.

Here's what I did to overcome this (or at least feel like I did). I took a minibreak from looking at toys and stuff on the Internet, long enough to let the new hotness escape my mind. I thought about trying to complete the collection as well and what that looks like. What do I actually like about these toy robots? Then, get a piece of paper and a pen or a Word doc and just start listing the first guys in your backlog that come to mind. Stop after about 10, maybe 15. Also it doesn't have to be something out yet, like the hypothetical Masterpiece G1 Jazz. Those are the guys you want the most and you should pursue only those on the list. It's been helping me a lot. It's how I finally focused up and bought my grail.

I'm whining because I just recently realized their existence (I skipped basically all Generations figures between the end of Animated aside from desk bots) and am upset that I literally had them in my cart after getting that lucky to even find them for less than 20$ and I fell asleep like a dickhead and they sold out. I didn't place any urgency on it because I didn't think anyone would even realize they were in stock. I just wanted a sword combiner that wasn't Star Saber for my Legacy stuff.

I also disagree that modern stuff has "quality". The transformations are meh, and the alt modes are typically terrible. Shit like Quake, Gears, Sideburn are some of the ugliest things I've ever seen. And the rampant yellowing issues make me wary of buying anything with light colored plastic.

I feel like the reason for this is that Hasbro is trying to milk nostalgia for all its worth while the people who remember geewunn are still alive and have disposable income to spend on this stuff. All those "checklist collectors" who just want a version of every single character on their shelves at any cost are probably what's keeping them afloat right now while their obligations to shareholders forces them to pinch every last penny.

People always make it seem like Hasbro is stupid, but they're actually making a ton of excellent business decisions to stay afloat in an economy where toy sales are ever-dwindling.

The dumb ass knee and kibble combo, you have to mistransform the kibble moving it from the back to the side of the shin if you want to use the knee joints.

The old Universe toy had a much better leg transformation, shame its upper half likes to explode during transformation.

in this G1-pandering age, it feels weird when we get releases that end up missing the mark in one way or another.

Siege Mirage was decent, if not good enough to be a placeholder until something better comes along, but his translucent plastic tabs being prone to breaking was a bit of a pisser. Somehow the later retooling ended up making him even LESS G1 accurate on top of cheap looking.

Kingdom Tracks ended up being a complete and total disaster, to the point I ended up passing on it in favor of my 2010 Turbo Tracks, which isn't great, but still better than the Kingdom figure.

I don't know if Tracks or Mirage will get another go anytime soon, probably not.

Primal's thighs are now sculpted out of white plastic, so no scratching on that part anymore. Megatron I have heard can sometimes be
loose in the hips or something.

Tigatron/BA pack is gonna be hard to find for a good price though.

There's not a whole lot of clearance to move the thighs, if you pose or transform your Kingdom Primal a lot, like I did mine, the white paint on the inner thigh is prone to getting scratched off.
Tfwiki says the Takara Primal has white plastic thighs, so there wouldn't be any problem, but I've seen people say the white is painted there too. There are conflicting reports.

Ok I guess there are a few that would be cool to have updates. Does Lugnut even count as Animated anymore? I think his RTS figure is more famous than his OG incarnation.
They should stick to characters that failed to get made and characters that are either unique to the show or their look is novel to that show, like the Prowl they did. He was a great choice and is a great figure..a shame about his bile mode, its pretty shit especially compared to the old one. I think another great Legacy candidate from animated would be Blackout.

I just got Legacy Shadow Striker. Pretty awkward mold like everyone was saying, but I don't dislike it. Even with the weird shoulders she's fun to pose. Love that she has poseable coat tails.

I think the robot mode is very close to being good, it's just slightly too awkward. Chest too wide, no real waist, weird shoulders, long plank feet(they do help with posing though)... Still I don't hate it. I would really like to know what the hell they were thinking with that car mode though, there's absolutely no excuse for it to look the way it does

Actually it uses the altmode of her Bayformers incarnation to skirt around the Dodge Viper licensing issue, and they just didn't bother to do anything about it for Sideburn since all his personality is in his robot mode.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some animated characters that don’t really need updating, Prime being one in particular. Aside from the look of the Axe, he’s not doing all that much different from other Primes.

On the other hand, characters like Prowl, Bulkhead, Lockdown, and maybe even Sentinel could absolutely have an update due to their relative iconography. Though the legacy version of Bulkhead was kinda shit because they really backpedaled on his silhouette. I worry they would fuck up Lugnut in the same way.

I dunno, I’m also the sort who wants a Legacy Animated Megs because of how tired I am of tank Megs all the time.

Javelin is a pretty great toy if you can get one for a decent price. The double pack with gutter trash Kaskade was a real dick move.

If you're okay with the rock lord thing, Shard is pretty ace. Great colors and has the best looking modes out of the other infernac toys.

Commander Rodimus was...ok, but does he really deserve to take up 2 Commander slots in different years? Absolutely not. I sort of view Commanders as HasLabs or Titans. You get one shot unless they make significant improvements. And I know they've done repaints in both Commander and Titan, but they're rare and IIRC Generation Selects right? I dunno, they really should use a Bay character for one sometime. I don't know who since I am not huge on the movies save for a few designs, but it would just be nice to see.

I've seen a redo of DotM Optimus be thrown around a lot as a potential Commander that could do well, I'm inclined to agree. His trailer+weapon ring+jetpack could really use the higher budget to be especially super nice, and the Bay 1-3 OP mold in SS is terrible and in desperate need of an update anyways (preferably inspired by Battle Blades and RotF Leader OP). Maybe an even larger Blackout? Though idk if he'd quite qualify as Commander, despite his size (maybe rhe Leader is perfect?) - but I dunno, could be wrong.
Other than those two, unless they were to do fuckin DotM Devcon as a Commander (lol never happening), I genuinely can't come up with any other Bay characters unless they were to start doing characters from the old toyline, in which case they could def do RotF Stratosphere. Love him lol. Or in Concept Art, maybe the concept Springer? Make him a huge fucker?

Yeah that's honestly one of the only ones I could see. I doubt we would get anything like that soon though because of the reissue that's right around the corner basically. Would still be nice to see them jump over to Bay movies for a hot second. I also think they're probably running out of characters to do for Commander in the Studio Series line anyways. Legacy/Generations they could literally do whatever they want with that size. Actually never mind. I am pretty sure there are some in the shitty game designs that could fill the slot.

Hate to be that guy, but by their issue 11s, both Marvel and IDW-1 had produced stories of actual originality intrigue by this point. Honestly I'd argue Dreamwave G1's first two volumes were more interesting than current Skybound too, and they pale in comparison to Vol. 3 and the War Within comics. Hey, maybe that means Skybound has potential to boom in quality suddenly too? But I dunno man. I'll applaud it when it actually happens.

However, this is coming from someone who has no connection to the original toy.
I think the hate comes largely from people making the comparison to the original and they're not wrong, he's not authentic to his original look so I can see why some would be disappointed.
Looking at it myself, the truck cab making up his torso is a badass look so losing that is a lil disappointing to me too.
Despite that I'm pretty happy with what we got and you're certainly right about the Mad Max style to him.

To me the huge problem is that the comic feels like it is both meandering and moving too fast all at once. Also doesn't help that they completely botched the Joe aspect of the franchise practically right out of the gate.

This is why gun mode Megs is a bitch to be a reality:

1. The walter p-38 is a licensed gun. Meaning Hasbro would have to pay for a licensing fee.

2. A lot of states outright ban the sale of all toy gun sales and countrys, that means less sales.

3. Takara would be your only/best option to obtain one and that comes with a limited amount. Imagine the after market sales.

My only head-cannon solution for this situation is a shattered spark. It mostly affects Decepticons due to their utilization of the Chaos Matrix. Megatron and Starscream both have multiple versions of themseves running around.

Alone, Freezer/Novokane kind of suck. They look awesome in robot mode as evil lil gremlin dudes. But once you have both.... the turret mode can be mounted, which is cool as hell. Then with Scourge (and soon Battletrap) you've got an awesome little Targetmaster, and a somewhat clumsy truck mounted gun. Awesome!

Yeah I don't dislike Siege, Earthrise, or Laser like some people do (even if the legs are somewhat uninteresting in terms of transformation), but for me 86 Prime is my def8nitive G1 style prime. Only other time I plan on dipling into G1 style Prime after that is going to be the G1 Toy style Legacy prime, the mini-missing link guy.

I do think people need to remember these are toys, maybe you can call the Masterpiece and horrific non-transforming ones "Figures", but many anons forget that they are Toys- and I do not mean Toy as a bad thing. By all means, have your fun! Swoosh'em around, make zoom sounds and kapow sounds.

I spent an embarrassing amount of time brainstorming ways to fix the backpack and those awful arms. I can't recall what I came up with for the arms at the moment, but the backpack needed at least two more hinges and maybe be designed to be inserted into the chest from the back.
