Toys are not meant for adults. You have such a fondness for toys likely because you retreated to them as a child hiding from one type of trauma or another.
Nostalgia used to be regarded as a mental illness. Your mind is trapped in the past and thus you cannot be mentally present in reality.
Toys are totems. When you play with a toy you are self inserting your energies into a inanimate object. Its a void for your heart and mind to fill, and you are not advancing your life, instead its simple escapism.
Its nice to have a big collection but if its too big you cannot display them all at once. Then you are not a collector, you are a storage company. Do the math on the square footage of how much space your collection takes up and how much rent / mortgage you pay for it. Its much higher than you think.
As your hoard grows more toys are forgotten and improperly stored. They will damage eachother as the methods of storage become increasingly haphazard. If you continue beyond your financial capabilities for long enough you will destroy your entire life. Women leave. Parents lose their patience. Rent gets missed. They end up in storage and then an episode of Storage Wars. Or, you hoard them successfully for long enough and then you die and they become someone elses burden or some greasy resellers jackpot.
