>>11129408>>11129437Nah, I wouldn't say that. I'm not young anymore, but these were before my time(31) and I can definitely see the appeal in many older figures. If I could I'd buy up a bunch of Bandai DX, especially sentai, figures from the 80's, as well as machine robo.
Modern innovations are cool but I think there's something very admirable about the engineering of these older figures. With figures representative of fiction, it's natural to want the versions that are closer to the media, but with these designs there's aspects unique to the original toy
There's something really appealing about how the transformations and gimmicks of these old toys are. Modern transformations are impresive but there's such a satisfying feel to sliding, telescoping, clicking , snapping bits in these old toys make things come together.
I get that articulation and fiction accuracy(or more realistic/elaborate design in the case of stuff like original designs) tend to be chief in people's interests, but I think there's such a nice appeal to this stuff as toys.
