Are we going to get sets for Jurassic World Rebirth?
The Jurassic World theme has felt like it's been stumbling since they stopped making movies, they made sets based on the woke kid's cartoon but they were fine, I guess.
Also I hope this stops the flood of grey shirt Owen being the only minifigure in the Jurassic World magazine.

Nexo was pretty fucking cool. they didnt drop anything.
just didnt compete with Ninjago enough. but i never understood why it should replace ninjago.
Why it cant just exist with it in lego.

Lego's problem lies in a fact that id dont have any famous characters besides those stupid ninjas.
Every other original theme dies after ~2-4 years and remains forgotten and nostalgic by people who liked it back then.

So basically lego is struggling to have its own characters that will represent it.
Sort of like Smash Bros - characters representing Nintendo.

That's what i said. "remembered by people who feel nostalgic about dead theme".
Ninjago is the most popular and oldest original lego theme with famous characters.
And ninjago fans dont even remember bonkles let alone their names.
Ninjago is there to stay for sure forever.

But it sucks because it's just 1 theme and lego relies on licensed stuff mostly.
Well at least ninjago is solid.

So for me it's cool - i dont spend that much on Lego and always ready to buy stuff when i want because its on discount/etc

i dont want DnD to kill the lego castle theme and be a parasite sucking on it like SW sucking on space theme. It took lego many years to try to fit a stealthy Nasa-themed space theme.

I find the set design excellent, but I agree Lion Knights are boring as hell. Black Falcons are also boring, but not quite as bad. Forestmen are okay (but overstaying their welcome a bit). If it weren't for the villagers, I wouldn't like the minifigure selection. I'm glad lego is putting out a lot of peasant torsos.

i agree. I like rock monster characters but they should have a filler set with completely different villains and monsters and then make a season with "demons but this time they made of stone and Jestro throws lightning bolts"

if DnD will be more normal and withing 20-150 price range then i will be buying it in non stop.

Castle is an afol theme as a whole. Nowadays we dont have any IP with castles. Fantasy is not that popular as in 80-90s.

This why nexo knights were a mix of a castle and sci-fi to buff it up. How can you have a regular castle theme in 2024.
You need to have likable bright characters for kids to like. And support it with comics and cartoons like lego does with its themes

I think it's cool how the '88 Tim Burton Batman movies basically had their own mini-theme last year with two sets and one poly bag
There is a big $400 set but there's no way I'm going to afford that
Apparently they're getting retired very soon, so I'm grateful that I nabbed them while I could. I'd go as far as to say that they're the crowning jewels of my Lego collection.
Hope we get sets based off Batman forever and Batman & Robin. Those movies were basically toy commercials so those movies getting Legofied would check out.

I actually agree but I also think there can be a large tabletop lego crossover market. They would buy minifigures and sets for tabletop use. Like if lego shits out what are basically roadplates rebranded as dungeon tiles, people would buy it in droves. Modular tabletop roleplaying is massive as it stands and lego could tap into that market with ease.

I mostly agree, the set seems to be in a sort of purgatory of being to large and complex to really capture the simplicity and elegance of the original theme but is also not really detailed enough to really stand out as a really nice, intricate Lego castle

Speaking of castles, the 3 in 1 medieval castle retires this year, does any more experienced Lego fan know if there are likely to be any deals on it before it retires? I'd love to see them do a remake of the big Space Police ship, though. It only uses trans red, which is still in production, and would fit with them remaking the Blacktron ship last year (the original SP sets came with Blacktron minifigs as prisoners, so they could reuse the new Blacktron torso print in the set. They've also already made updated SP torso and helmet prints for the CMF line they could reuse).

One of reasons of why i didnt want to buy the 80s batman set was that it's all shiny lego surface.
And i know that in my house it will turn into dirty dusty shit. Because lego shiny black surface usually kind of sticky and fingerprints ruining it.

I watched some videos and even new fresh out of the box it starts looking kinda unpleasant

If i would buyt it - i'd rather put it under those displays from Amazon that makes a plastic cube around your set to protect it

Not nearly as elaborate, but I bought a big baseplate for one of my larger xabinets where I store some of my bigger sets, but it turned out to be too wide by 3 rows of studs so I just put it on a table and built a little structure on it to make it look like a landing field for the Galaxy Explorer. Not yet. I was planning to make a Blacktron II vs Space Police one since I have a bunch of Blacktron II minifigs, but I need more bricks. I was thinking of making the background a canyon wall, with the spaceships chasing each other through the canyon, but I don't have enough rock-colored bricks.
Also, I recently found fairly good condition a classic space blue spaceman body, but no helmet or oxygen tank for it. For fun I stuck an extra Alien Conquest alien grunt head on it, and might just leave it like that since I kind of like the way it looks. Makes me think of some kind of perpetually grumpy space-janitor: "Grunt fetch hyper-spanner, Grunt retune warp drive, Grunt unclog space-toilet. Nobody ever ask how Grunt feeling or what Grunt did on weekend...".

it's good. there are a lot of good themes (licensed, can't say the same for nonlicensed themes) at the moment though and it's hard to buy over others. Also some of the sets are slightly bloated like that middle set, I only want eggman's drill car but there's 5 side builds to jack up the price. Also the rouge figure is a bit dissapointing but lego won't do cleavage or boobs anymore so not sure how they could of made it better

Sonic is cool, I have nearly all the sets for 2023 wave, the early 2024 wave, but skipped the current wave. No new Mobian minifigures, except for Super Sonic and the set for him is ludicrously expensive.

Yes, the mammoth is insanely cool and the ice fortress with the bridge is a great set, but basically almost every other set is generic garbage. That's a LOT of sets in this pic.
