I don't get what the market is for Prime 1 studios or who buys them. Yes, it's rich people, but they make so many. Even well off people will run out of space, or decor aesthetics means they won't have more than a few.
Reselling these things must be hell. disassembling massive statues into boxes is a pain and seems easy to break. and if you break a statue, even just a chip, it's basically worthless because it's purely aesthetic. I briefly deepdived into statues, and the videos had guys talk about trying to get money back from a reseller because of damage in transit. So buy a statue, want a new one more than the old one and have to resell it, then end up in the hole because Juri's foot chipped and the new owner can't glue it now.
Then there's the fact that so many of these $2000 statues are based off redesigns or modern versions with less nostalgic attachment. Who loves the Megatron from the fifth Michael Bay Transformers movie that much, or an alternate costume from Street Fighter 5?
The Japanese get it right. statues start around $15 and highest price is $200-300 usually, and they actually look like the character
