>>11149243That was the last time Tekken felt relevant. I did buy Tekken 4, but I barely remember it compared to 3.
>>11149291>Tekken has sold more copies than street fighter btwThat surprises me only slightly, since Tekken always felt like it was predominantly a console game that just happened to get an arcade release. It doesn't help that all of the early ports of SF2 were kind of shit.
>>11149323It wasn't the first fighting game, but SF2 was the first one to make a huge cultural impact. Nobody cared about SF1 back then, and if they say it mattered, they are liars. You would need to go to an arcade to find SF1. SF2 was literally everywhere. Here in Australia, video rental shops, milk bars and take away food joints would get in a SF2 cabinet just to jump on the craze. The local fish and chip shop would have tournaments, and whenever someone came into class late after lunch, it was usually because they were on a winning streak.
Anyway, fuck fighting games. This is my biggest knoe. I'm hoping the upcoming Figma Snake redo and the remaster of MGS3 lead to a golden age for MGS figs.
