It slowly started in 1999 when they acquired the Star Wars license. Worst thing they ever did. It was all down hill from there. In the 2010s they seemingly completely abandoned the iPad generation. They just gave up after numerous stupid attempts to connect the brick toy with some app nonsense. Now they make expensive coffee table accessories for man children and people who never touched lego but see a Porsche set at the airport and think "neat". My prediction? Lego will go the way of the model train and tin soldier. Since new generations aren't falling in love with the brick anymore, it will just be old men who buy it. And ultimately it will fate into obscurity. They could have had it all! Every parent who thinks their kid is spending to much time on a screen is in the market. They should have promoted themselves to be the antithesis to modern digital toys. But hey, at least the shareholders are happy.

Don't agree, I have kids and regardless of the set type it gets built, played with, then torn down for parts. Kids don't want to preserve stuff like adults. I believe that it is because Lego sell Star Wars and expensive statue sets to adults that we still have small sets available as an awesome toy for kids.
