The new wheels really give it some extra beef to an already beefy alt mode. Gonna print some new feet for him now, since printing new shoulders for Pointblank are gonna have to wait until I get some Cyan PLA in.

Soundwave's here. Excluding the Shattered Glass version of him, this is actually my first Soundwave in general - up until now, I was using Siege Soundblaster as a stand-in. I'm still short a few cassettes, but he's got enough little friends for now. I did notice that both Ravage and Soundwave himself literally had flecks of plastic fall off of them, plus all of the cassettes including the three he came with have trouble fitting into him, so I guess the mold is already deteriorating. Weird.

Huh, I had no idea. Neither SG Laserbeak nor SG Ravage had a problem plugging into SG Soundwave, and he's just the same mold with a new head. Plus Soundblaster was able to hold two cassettes at once with no issue - it feels weird that this guy is having problems.

Weird that they're redoing Star Convoy after Takara made one not long ago. It wasn't Titan huge, but it did scale to their Super Megatron.

The reason I say this is because the 13 itself is a loopy concept. It takes existing characters (Alpha Trion, Vector Prime, The Fallen) and adds them to this bizarre lineup that keeps changing with each iteration.

Meaning if you are going to do The 13, whose version do you use? The Fallen that everyone wants is the Dreamwave Version, Onyx will be the IDW version? What about Alpha Trion? Sunbow version again? Or do we tie them to one new aesthetic?

I stay killing it at the thrift store. Today’s find is a rare one, Universe Soundwave, aka Machine Wars Soundwave, aka Predator Stalker. A fascinating figure based on some quick research. An oddity for the fact he has zero lore attached to him and also he was packed with Cyberje SpaceCase. So, this figure basically bridges the gap between the Predators and the Cyberjets and also is an empty husk for a OC character. Neat!

Putting aside the fact that they just did Star Convoy not too long ago, this is my biggest issue with the idea. All the micromasters have come and gone years ago. Its good, not perfect. That star on his chest is only connected by a tiny, flimsy piece of plastic, and some of the limbs and joints feel really loose, maybe from mold degradation.

As for why they're doing a new Titan one, got me. Unless it comes with Sky Garry and Grandus too it seems kinda silly.

That mold actually suits Bullseye better than it does Ravage - it always looked more canine than feline, which is probably why they chose it to begin with. Just be warned - that mold also completely lacks a tail of any kind for some reason.
Somewhat unrelated rant, but I have no idea why they feel they need to keep reinventing Ravage every few years - the Masterpiece mold was pretty much perfect in every single way, and every iteration of the cassette cats made after that has been a downgrade.

I've only seen one case of discoloration on tfw, it's not even ever brought up in the multi-hundred page yellowing thread they have. Mine is also still completely fine, no sign of any discoloration after years.
It does, however, have horrendously loose tolerances

Oof, I'm so sorry, anon. I have been extraordinarily lucky with yellowing, I think my Cyclonus is showing a little but I might just be paranoid. In particular I don't remember his purple parts being so mismatched out of the box but I also don't think I was watching for it until Legacy when it got really bad. If he has changed color then he's the only one in my entire collection, and that includes Kingdom Tigatron.

It was also discolored out the box iirc, probably just a bad batch, there's no report of Selects Cyclonus yellowing with time.
There are however reports of very loose shoulder joints so watch out for that.

I got the Armada Legacy Powerlinx Hot Shot. I don't really get why they made the transformation sequence less accurate. In the show and in the 2002 toy, the car's roof and windshield become parts of Hot Shot's arms, but in the redesign they hang awkwardly off the back of his shins and just kind of get in the way.

Aside from that, not too many complaints. I'm getting back into these after not owning any for 20 years because Armada was my favorite as a child. I really hope they release Jetfire or Overload next.

I missed the release of Megatron. Do you think they'll reissue him like they did for Optimus or should i just get Galavatron when he drops?

Speaking of trains, I'm looking forward to Galaxy Shuttle. The Astrotrain he's a recolor of was pretty damn good, so I'd love to have a properly-colored shuttle. My only issue was the tender in the back, when folded out to be a launchpad, didnt' want to stand up properly. From behind, at a distance, out of focus (the camera pans past her to look at a bridge that she's about to steal a beam from), and for less than a second. That tiny glimpse was only included be wise the guys who made her model were upset that the robot mode they came up with wasn't going to be seen - she's in bird mode for the remaining 21 minutes and 53 seconds of the 21:54 episode, and acts more like an animal with a three-word vocabulary than an intelligent alien robot. Her appearance in a short story that takes place afterwards also has her in bird mode the whole time (and still thinking/acting more animal-like than sentient). She's a character who may as well not have a robot mode - she seems to believe she's an actual magpie, right down to her nesting behavior.
The other three Corvicons that showed up later were a different story, though.

I have no idea why she, specifically, seems to be so hard for people to get a hold of - she never even appeared on shelves in my area (I was lucky enough to get mine from Pulse before she sold out, otherwise I wouldn't have her either). Got the Windsweeper/Breakdown two pack a few days ago and figured I'd print them up some stuff too. Rustoleum Aluminum spray is a pretty close match to the silver used on him. Glad to finally be able to replace the TFSS version of him, just need Ruckus and a proper Thunderwing and I'll finally have Thunderwing's squad complete.

I'm am definitely surprised by the choice of making a titan Star Convoy, I'm not familiar with the lore, so I didn't know he was supposed to be fuck huge. I guess it'll be cool to have a giant Optimus, but he'll just be on his own I guess. Maybe I can have him fight Trypticon? Scorponok? Just feels like he won't have anyone to square up with. I guess that was true of the original toy too, but I I would like a giant Super Megatron to go with him. I'd say that doesn't feel likely, but then again, if you would have asked if I thought we'd be getting a titan Star Convoy at literally any point, my answer would have been "no fucking way" Excited to see him unveiled though.

I really like this name anon, good way to have Prime Breakdown exist in the G1 universe without stepping on the Stunticon Breakdown's toes.
I have a hang-up about having multiple characters in the same continuity double-dipping on the same name. I guess there's no reason in-universe why two characters can't both have the same name (maybe Breakdown is like "Mike" in Cybertronian or something) but I just don't like it. Prime Breakdown was in the 2019 G1 comic reboot as just Breakdown, but it never sat right with me even though I really like the character.

I got him specifically because IAM a fan of Monster Hunter and have been playing since FU; I even main a Charge Blade, which doesn't get much love in merch (they love to stick to Sword and Shield, Greatsword and Longsword when making Hunter figures). He could've been better looking in both modes, but I still think he's kinda neat and want him for the novelty of it (though he's definitely not going to be Optimus Prime on my shelf; as far as I'm concerned, he's a whole new Prime with his own Matrix. Speaking of which, where on the Airazor mold is there room for that Matrix accessory he comes with to plug into?).

If I remember right, Evan also bought up had Speedbreaker/Sideburn been the primary use, he would have looked closer to the Car Robots/RID anime.

This team has had a very money-paw vibe to it. Without them, we wouldn't have gotten epic stuff like Magmatron, UT guys and Star Convoy at retail...On the more negative side, people were not happy with how the Prime stuff turned out, the whole RID Scourge deco, how Tidel Wave was done (plus the QC issues people had) and of course Bay collectors feeling like they have been thrown under a bus little in Studio Series.

You're not wrong though. The more memorable minor characters in the cartoon usually had an episode to themselves or at least an instantly recognisable accent to set them apart from everyone else, and Windcharger had neither. The most memorable thing about Winddcharger was that he wore a lab coat that one time and was a corpse in the movie.
I still love him though and a new toy is one of my biggest wants at this point.

Pretty much all the original G1 transformer bios for the first year or so were done by Bob Budiansky over at Marvel, so of course in order to differentiate one car/plane robot from another you give them different powers (Trailbreaker's shields, Skywarp's teleportation, etc)

I grew up with the UT, so a lot of those "powered up" repaints are special to me, but overall I think I do prefer how they do things nowadays with doing new headsculpts at a minimum and also some figures getting huge partial retools. It's been really interesting to see the designers stretch their budgets and imaginations to produce some of those more niche characters For all the problems a figure like the recent Vector Prime has, I think he'd be much, much worse if he was just a straight repaint of Jhiaxus in VP colors lol

According to TFwiki, it its a thing on some Airrazors, turns out maybe not GPS, but more likely stress marks on the wing hinges due to improper packaging. Which now upon closer inspection looks to be the case. Pity though. I feel sort of bad. Just hope it won't happen again.

Ahem, from what I know anyways the AMK PRO series have that spiffy paint job on them and the molds look very close to mp figures of late, yet somehow my local amazon has pre-orders of the AMK series, same things really but without the flashy paint job, for optimus prime this is serviceable and beats me paying out the ass for the disappointment that was mp44, knock offs exist but this is just more attractive.

Sadly the megatron here without the paint is kinda grey and even more so gae and to get the amk pro I would have to pay double the price and import him, anyways just need the following

Not quite like kits from what I'm aware, they're called model kits but basically just disassembled action figures, which makes megatron awkward because from what I understand the AMK kits are more friendly towards paint work but might quite some proper disassembly, I also lack paint skills so while optimus is kinda tolerable megatron is not

Getting ML Prime in hand has really opened my eyes as to what's wrong with modern TF toys. For instance, people always complain about not wanting a trailer because it's just "a big empty plastic box" that adds not value, but the G1 toy was design was, you know, an actual toy, so the trailer is very much NOT a big empty box. It's a combat platform, a repair bay, a base, and also a trailer that can hold other vehicles. If the G1 series had kept the Diaclone minifigs, it would have even more functionality.

I really hate how un-toylike modern TF toys are. They're just ugly heaps of plastic that look like a thing, instead of an actual concept designed to be fun to play with. Last time mainline TFs hit that high was with Titans Return, and arguably some of the modular weapon/base/fossil guys--there's a reason that people making -izer monstrosities injected so much life into /tfg/, and it's because it was the first time in a while we had actual toys to play with. Now the only thing keeping these threads alive is that one anon who's always playing with micromasters, god bless him.

I'm totally woth you on that. Play features are fun. Like who didnt love Armada Megatron?? That guy was wild! He had a hand knife, he had a like 3 missile launchers, he had action features for your minicons. He had a minicon storage jail in one leg, and like a minicon crusher or something in the other. He had an aircraft cstaoukt on the front, then a flip open multi minicon port. That one toy came packed with shit.

Part of it is that the fanbase has so many old people or autists who dont have fun anymore. Its all accuracy this and accuracy that. And the "but its a box" complaints for Optimus trailers... to me a G1 or G2 Optimus isn't really complete without the trailer. Now of its a Bay optimus I can live without it, or a Prime Optimus, but otherwise yeah I want the trailer.

My turning point on the trailer was when I got MP-10 and realized the little articulated, arm-mounted battle-pod in the trailer could poke itself out through the top in order to facilitate a mobile battle mode. The fact that I hardly ever saw anyone in the fandom talk about that feature on the original toy (or on the MP, for that matter) made me realize I was dealing with a demographic of retards who couldn't appreciate a good toy if it was lubed up and rammed directly into their assholes. The battle pod wasn't in the cartoon, so nobody cared about it. Fucking philestines.

I'm not a geewunner in the least, but ML Optimus Prime is the best Transformers toy I've bought in years, simply because it's an actual toy, through and through.

i was playing with my missing link the other day and just realized that thing can pop out, and it has wheels on the bottom so it can even be its own little vehicle. was it like that on the original G1/Diaclone toy, too? between that, roller, the refueling station, and the spring-loaded launcher, the OG Diaclone trailer literally had more play features than the cab/Optimus did.

I care about fun which is why I find most optimus prime trailers to be boring. Key part of his aesthetic sure, but it really just is never that interesting and usually easily gets btfo by other trailers in the series.

Honestly, OPs trailer only really works in the context diaclone. Its dullness makes so much more sense when you imagine a bunch of little guys driving roller, manning the gun and scrambling around the repair bay or using it as a hangar. As a thing for giant robots it's just... not as cool.

What do you mean? Aside from changing her bird thighs to teal and removing the yellow from the loops on her wings, she's pretty close to show-accurate, colorwise. Or are you talking about her robot mode's color distribution, which really isn't important because she never used her robot mode in any way where you would have seen it?

Probably because of the lack of beast mode wing articulation - it's possible to fold that Airazor's wings against her body by partially mistransforming them, but otherwise she's stuck with them fully extended. Also, the robot mode doesn't really look like Filch due to the transformation, particularly the hands and feet.

Great, better than the original. His only real issue is his face sculpt, otherwise he's more or less a perfect modernized version of the character. Definitely worth picking up if you don't have him already.

That's what I'm thinking he'll be but what will the combiner junk's third mode be? A second base mode or a tiny aircraft carrier? Onslaught will be similar to Motormaster in that the cab of his truck will detach and transform into a smaller robot mode, while his trailer gets a base mode.

He can hide plenty of snacks in his shins. I prefer the gen selects toy colour repaint but I love that you can fold Cyclonus' hands and feet away in robot mode to reveal thrusters or arm blasters.

If any characters need SS86 rereleases, it's Thundercracker and Skywarp. Put them in a 2-pack with Coronation Starscream's new hands. It's a shame there's already a Shockwave repaint based on the G1 cartoon because I really want to get hold of the original Siege Shockwave for a sensible price.

Hot Shot is a bit weak but at least you got the version with a Mini-Con. The lack of wrist articulation is inexcusable and the roof not having anywhere to tab in in robot mode is really annoying. I need to get one of the kits that covers up the gaping holes in his shins. If you want Armada figures, Starscream and Optimus Prime are much better (although I'm still waiting for someone to make folding wing swords for Starscream)

It genuinely is the best TF movie we've ever gotten but that's because there's hardly any worthy competition
It's the only one that actually tries to have a competent plot with worldbuilding, understandable lore, characters with actual personality and development all at once

It's not a mindless action flick like bayverse/rotb, isn't held together with tape and string with shit animation like 86 , and actually has a plot unlike bumblebee.

The biggest issue is that the pacing is all fucked up. It feels like something that should've either been longer, or split up into multiple parts
