Saw a lot of results saying that gentle cycles in washing machines are okay, but dryers are not even if you used the no-heat/air-dry setting so I decided to just go with washing her and sitting her in front of a blower. There were also suggestions to hand wash with dish soap/detergent/spot cleaners/baking soda with a wet rag but that only covers the surface. I wanted a deeper clean so I chanced it with the washing machine. They also suggested using a mesh net when using the washer but I didn't have one. Was still worried because most of the results I saw were from people who were completely ripping out the stuffing and re-sewing for full restores, not just plain washing. But she came out okay. I had a side loaded washing machine, and set the water temp to 30C (lowest next to cold) and the spin strength to minimum. The results said use tap cold but I always have issues with the detergent not actually washing out when it's cold so I went the lowest I could while warm.
Overall, stuffing seems fine, no clumping or other weird issues that I've experienced with my pillows. The ribbon and cupcake don't seem damaged from tumbling through the machine. It's been an hour and the surface is still moist to the touch. Doesn't feel waterlogged and squeezing parts of her doesn't get water dripping out so a second spin cycle probably won't help. I guess I'm in it for the long haul with a few hours per side and orientation. I'd just leave her hanging on a rack but every time I do that with clothes they always smell off so I have to re-wash them. Don't want that here.
Pic related's my setup until I find something to raise the blower so that it's level with the rack.
Guess that's it for updates from this unless something went horribly wrong and her surface fuzziness never comes back and I irreparably destroyed something.
