- An APS-C camera (less expensive than a full frame)
- An expensive flagship phone like Apple or Samsung
The difference is the APS-C camera is purer but you'll have to splurge for the lens. A 10mm-15mm should net you better groupshots of your toys. 20-30mm is the every-lens you can use for most day-to-day stuff including your hobbies. As for tiny insects or lego, get a macro lens.
Zoom Lens VS Prime Lens - Zoom is more expensive but you'll probably get an APS-C that has a zoom kitlens packaged in. Prime lens, you can't zoom in but is more affordable.
Canon VS Nikkon VS Fuji VS Sony
You won't see much difference from either one as a beginner, but the main difference here are the prices of the lenses. Nikkon and Fuji have more affordable lenses. Canon has the brand recognition and is more affordable. Sony's cameras are more expensive but I rememeber the lens being less expensive than Canon ones.
Meanwhile, expensive flagship phones offer more bang for your buck as a casual photographer, but they do use a fuckton of AI since the lenses cameras use are super small. Despite all this, it's the best alternative for a macro lens because of how small phone lenses are
