It's here. The mask is tiny and won't fit anything else without modifications, and it uses the same inika build, but it was worth it for the price, considering it's fucking mata nui. I'm going to make a moc with keetongu's parts and his mask someday.

I've been thinking of getting rid of some of my bionicle collection, mostly just the later year stuff I don't have that much attachment to.

Most of my shit is pretty well organized and complete in their original canisters, would it be better to list everything individually on bricklink? or just dump everything into a big lot to get rid of it all at once? Not in any sort of rush I just felt like this shit was just rotting in storage.

Big lots generally move very slowly unless you price it really really cheap. Like technically any bionicle set could be more parts to someone's collection but people generally don't want to buy sets they already own in a big lot for close to full price. If you list them all separately they're more approachable and you'll get better value but its more work on your end.

I remember building a fat Roodaka (?) MOC around 2008 when I was around 12-13. I never actually owned Roodaka or any sets with Vahki heads, but I think it was inspired by Roodaka. I don't remember the head design though. Maybe it wasn't even a Roodaka MOC and I just slapped some random mask on it. But I used 3 Bohrok-Kal face shields as the belly (I don't remember how I managed to put them together to face a belly with my MOCing skills at the time but it probably looked like shit) and Nuva shoulders for the boobs. I also made sure to make the limbs chunky, so I used Vahki calves and Piraka limb armors with Metru thighs. It probably looked like some cursed Inika build with my messy custom shit added on top of it.

I remember 100%ing this back in 06, but I'll be goddamned, I can't play more than probably two missions before shelving it for months at a time now. The repetitive music and gameplay, and the horrid blooming effects since I own it on Ps2 just suck the fun right out of it for me now. It's a shame because there's a lot I like about it. See I'd be happy with a sort of Ark/Mnog/Runescape third person hybrid where you have the usual survival, leveling, and building aspect, but with some kind of npcs to interact with and set locations to explore. Being a random Matoran villager, just doing quests and gathering materials to make a fortified living space and tame/fight Rahi beasts on some sort of island, Voya, Mata, or just some new place that offers new secrets to explore.

If you mean Bionicle pieces, yes, they are. Lego is a system so everything is compatible with everything. Bionicle sets often use a lot of regular Technic pieces and sometimes even a few System ("regular lego") pieces too. They were made with the same quality standards in mind. However lime colored ball sockets in 2007 and all the ball sockets from 2008 onward til 2010 were notoriously fragile. Which was probably a major contributing factor for the decrease in sales which consequently led to the cancellation of the theme.

When I was little I somehow played through this entire fucking game without realizing you could buy upgrades, and I thought the game was fucking impossibly hard.

Flashback to like a year ago, I decided to give the game a replay and Nuparu's fully upgraded weapon is so fucking broken literally the only time I ever died was against bosses since they're the only thing his screen-wipe of a gun can't one shot before they can attack you. It was kind of cathartic in a way, I actually was going to try and 100% complete it but not being able to skip cutscenes makes replaying the game just to push one hidden button per level as Vezon too much of a slog.

Man I would love an expanded version of the 2006 era after the Inika come to voya nui, because the toa mata felt like they did a lot as mata, the nuva a lot as nuva, the metru a lot as metru, and even the hordika a lot more as hordika but all the Inika did was:
. Get into a fight
. Meet axon and shoot some matoran’s into being not slaves
. Invade the piraka hideout
. Go inside a volcano to race some piraka and initiate a boss fight
All this happened in like a day
I mean they did go down that staircase thingy, but that book never got released

I feel like voya nui online game should be canonised, there is no reason why it shouldn’t, because it feels right for what the Inika arc should be and what it was advertised as being. Well, it’s my headcanon at least, essentially starting after they meet axon and canon before the piraka hideout invasion (of course I can’t count the last part) because it makes too much sense not to be. Like it’s disappointing playing bionicle heroes as a kid and expecting the Inika arc to be like that, but nah

The mahri arc was fucking great though, and I liked the hordika arc story rise because I always been partial to darker gloomier things even as a kid, I didn’t care about the flaws the atmosphere of that arc alone made it among my favourites

Obviously much more basic than what you're talking about, but the start of MNOG2 is literally just this and it's surprisingly fun. Even though all you're doing is repetitive fetch quests between a handful of Matoran in Ga-Koro, having them all move around and interact independently plus the distinct personalities in their five lines of dialogue each does a good job of making it feel deeper than it actually is.

The Inika really only had two books to flesh them out, Legends 3 and 5. Legend 4 was about the Piraka's backstories for some reason. I remember liking that book but most of it was pretty pointless in retrospect and just stalled the story progression.
Faber's file leaks revealed that Greg really wanted to focus on the Nuva in the first two 2006 books, while his bosses wanted the Nuva gone. Had Greg listened to them, I think he could have fit the Piraka backstories into the first two books, so book 4 could have been dedicated to the Inika to give them more of a story. In the end, I'm glad Greg didn't just shove the Nuva aside like the execs wanted, but the story and its media could have been planned out better overall.

I'm so mad at myself. This alone makes MNOG II actually playable, now I have to do a second playthrough actually playing it legit. The idea of playing through MNOG II without cheating is a completely fucking foreign concept to me, but I'm kind of excited now to try though.

MNOG II is really special to me, it's basically the only official Bionicle... uh, anything, where nothing extreme is happening and nobody's in danger, and you just get to see and explore what the average peaceful day is like.

I bought black one off of bricklink and it looks really off compared to other black pieces I have (like 1/4 the way from black to pearl dark grey), so I wonder if I got the pearl black one by accident, or it's solely because of the piece's texture.

Yeah Ga-Koro is great in that game. It's a shame the other koros are so half-assed. If they had limited the scope to Ga-Koro and put the effort they spent on the other koros into puzzles and just things to do other than grinding and Kohlii it would've been a good game. The roof puzzle and the disc throwing minigame from the start are always kind of jarring because they feel like they come from an actual adventure game instead of the the grindfest we got. It would also be nice if there was something more interesting happening than a kohlii tournament story wise but I suspect Templar didn't have much control over that.
The one nice thing about the game is the personality. Templar was always good at that and you can tell that as soon as they stopped being involved there was no one left that cared about the matoran or their personalities.

There's a moderate sized Japanese Bionicle MOC community and some of them have even kept up with the online fan contests of recent years. But the franchise's popularity took a hit around 2004 for some reason and Japan pretty much stopped getting Bionicle media after that. They didn't even release the 3rd film.

I liked when the lore aspect of Bionicle was a collaborative project of different creative people planning out a story and universe with mysteries to solve and settings to explore. When it was just Greg sitting alone, making up stuff on the fly with no end goal, it felt empty. What's the point of following a story when the writer himself does't care about where it goes?
Besides, Greg was just one guy who had his own interpretation of the story and his own writing preferences that shouldn't be taken as gospel. I'm pretty sure the other creators didn't care or even know about any of the stuff Greg wrote outside of the basic main plots. For example in Faber's personal version of the lore, Hero Factory has secretly been a sequel to Bionicle all along.

I find it interesting how many parallels there are between Bionicle and the old Star Wars Legends Expanded Universe. Both were multi-media story projects involving everything from comics to video games to flash games to novels with all sorts of different authors and attempts to stitch the canon together when two stories dont mesh well. It was SOVL cause it was before everything became formulaic like the MCU

I think that's all models. I noticed some enemies were replaced by stronger ones as you progressed through the game, even when going back in older stages, so this game a sort of hidden rank system, which made me think there could be more I didn't find yet, but I already beat it and found nothing else. I even unlocked the makuta cheat that makes enemies stronger, but all that does is make them all black.

I don't know about other seasons but I wathced Prime Empire (2020) back then. I was surprised that it (relatively) had some actual depth, and that they tried to make it engaging and interesting as a standalone TV show, and not just some dumbed down commercial for the toys. They even referred to events and characters from earlier seasons without making stuff hard to understand for new viewers. Sure, it was still a lighthearted kids show, but it definitely had more things going on than the episodes for Hero Factory and Bionicle G2.

I love the idea that the Sons of Makuta have been gestating since the Toa arrived on the island and have been feeding off their power in some way. Maybe that's why Makuta let the Toa into his lair and let them become Nuva in the first place. He was making his Rahkshi more powerful the whole time.

Kennie on Aliex is literally the guy who owns the injection-molder that Ziontyro commissioned these molds from. So that's why they have a nearly-identical selection.
Ziontyro's store has lower prices consistently, though it takes way longer for him to restock. He's got a good number of stuff right now, though.
Ziontyro's also selling other really useful parts, like the very coveted mixel socket-axle piece, purple Bohrok eyes, and versions of those old titan socket connectors with the vertical holes, but this time without any rubber inserts that age over time, which I find super neat. I just wish he sold them in more colors. Also he has some CCBS parts in rare colors.
Another neat thing i noticed, but Kennie's store has some custom lime Inika limbs for sale, but with CCBS-style sockets for stability. Anybody bought those yet? Those seem like a REALLY useful piece, hopefully Ziontyro will be selling them on his store too...

I hate their logic of "well the lore was getting too complex" yeah and the kids growing up with the theme were getting older. Kids don't give a shit about transformers lore beyond whatever movie comes out and enfranchised fans will keep up. I think the biggest mistake with Glatorian was Mata Nui being the only universe character released in those waves. But TLG saw a small dip in profits from a decade long line of raking in money and pulled the plug. Fucking bullshit, and they won't even let the story continue.

Realistically, I think the three most obvious reasons were the actual reasons Bionicle got cancelled:

>the Inika build getting old (while not introducing any new armour and limb pieces to make the sets look new)
>the "soft reboot" of 2009. Like, they went with generic elemental heroes with bright colors and stuff without giving fans (especially new fans) a reason to give a shit about this new line or these new characters.
Other than that, the 2009 sets looked extremely blocky and plain to me, and I really can't explain why.

Transformers and almost every major franchise reboots every now and then. G1 drifted into a convoluted mess where the very idea of what bionicle is (a biological chronicle) got increasingly lost and failed to substitute an alternative meaning (also true for G2)

Man, I would love a game that is just a 3d version of mnog mixed with the Horizon zero dawn / Monster Hunter open spaces with high quality moc rahi models roaming in the nature.

What do I even do? Let the feeling pass? I feel like I need a creative outlet for building something. I've never even been to this board before but I like seeing all these mocs.

The program has most technic parts to start with, but only a fraction of bionicle parts. But you can find additional bionicle part packs online.
