It used to be that 1/6 figures ran for between $20 and $50 bucks (For DML , BBI @1st Century Toys, etc.) back in the late 90's. For some reason, it became a premium product and runs for the ridiculous prices they do now.

I switched my focus more to stuff like Action Man, Max Steel, and reproduction GI Joe figures. I had more fun with those than the premium figures.

the scale commands a lot of space, so collectors want the most premium product.
Retail pricing also escalated to the point where mainstream companies have little interest in cloth 12'' figures.

Shocked to see a general for this, used to make them back in the day but quit when the moderation went to complete shit. Any news about anything anymore or is it all just whatever you find?

Absolutely this. Still have a huge collection boxed up and in storage. Prices went crazy and I was out.
