It was rumored that we'd be getting figures based off of fire team talasa (the multiplayer operation characters from the video game), so I wonder when and what we will get out of those. I'm REALLY hoping we get more than just the basic starter guys (so bare UMs), and I hope we at least get some of the cooler armor unlocks, even if they're still UM colors. The champion skins would also be really cool to get.
I recently made a mini based off my tactical marine colors and load out.

Got my 'nids in! They're very cool; got a Warrior and 3 Spinegaunts. I'm surprised at how poseable they are considering the designs, especially for the price.
Sadly I had my first actual breakage; one of the gaunts had one of its mid-limbs break at two joints. Fortunately replacing them with hobby base joints was pretty simple, and you can't even tell it's been fixed, but still annoying. I'm not sure if it was just stuck and would have been fine with hot water (the package was very cold due to the weather) or if there was an actual QC mishap.
That said, overall I'm very pleased with them.

The problem is where do traitor space marines hide? They tend to not blend in so once found they have no option but to run to the Eye of Terror which ultimately leads to corruption.

But despite this, you still have some mainstream options that aren't particularly known for their Chaos worship. Nightlords, Alpha Legion, and the Fallen/Dark Angels don't always play up the chaosy side of things and are found in real space doing the more spy/espionage stuff.

It's funny, in order for this line to succeed, I suspect they have to pander heavily to NON-human factions, which is the exact opposite of what they do with 40K.

From what I understand, Stormcast are among the most popular factions in AoS. And both Old World and AoS shit on 30k in terms of tabletop game sales. The exception probably being the Primarchs.

Also, there isn't exactly much cool in Old World, in my opinion. Maybe the Skaven and Lizardmen? AoS kinda do them better, though.

Stormcast are popular, but popular in the way that a normal faction is popular. Not popular as in GW sells more Intercessors than the entire Dark Eldar model range combined level of popular that Space Marines are.

This may be one of the reasons AoS gets cool new expansions to armies more regularly than 40k does.

Stormcast are #1 AoS faction, but within the genral norm. It's like 10-15% of the playerbase (which given 20+ faction is 2-3 tiems more commone than average).
Marines in 40k take up 50-70% of the audience

Probably diversifying. 40k used to be basically nothing when compared to Fantasy, but because GW promoted it; it surpassed Fantasy by leagues and miles. The last thing GW wants is for 40k to be their only monopoly.

I'm interested, mostly because I love fantasy and I don't give a shit about 40kek in general.

Neat. Not really a fan of stormcast, but the bearded guy is cool and both the female sculpts could make neat femstodes with a head swap. I'm surprised more people don't do that with the miniatures or maybe they do and I'm just not tuned into AoS.

I know you're not going to be convinced regardless of what I say, and I'm not really interested in your shizo theories either, but I DO play the game - I've got a 3800pt collection fully painted by me, plus a table-worth of terrain, and I think femstodes are fine. It's not a big deal, and I don't care that they changed the lore slightly to allow for it. I'm in favor of pretty much anything that encourages people to customize /theirdudes/.

Lizardmen and Ossiarch would both make great figures, I'd go deep on lizardmen in a heartbeat, I've already been toying with the idea of starting a small AoS army of them.

You should just buy some lizardmen and stuff that you like, no need to commit to an entire army. I have some AoS stuff for exactly those reasons. In total, I have about 18k points worth of 40k stuff, built and painted myself, and a few hundred of points of AoS. Mostly single units of stuff that I found cool, like the Naga ladies, the gorgon one, their spells, some chaos knights/slaves to darkness start collecting box, two units of ossiarch bonkers (20 basic infantry, and 3 of the bigger 4 armed guys). There's plenty more that I want to buy, such as lizardmen.

If you can't understand from context that their statement that there have "always been female custodes" was a clarification of the change being retroactive and not an attempt to say that this was always what they meant in old codexes, you're a retard on a scale I truly can't fathom.

As I explicitly mentioned in a previous post, that sort of shit can outright KILL popular fictional franchises when hack-writers pump out shit retcons(see StarWars, Doctor Who & Rangz of power). Primaris Marines were a huge change/retcon that divided the fanbase and people hate and bitch about them to this day half-a-decade later. Context is important, changes and retcons can be either good, bad or relatively inconsequential. Primaris Marines at least had an attempt to justify them in the lore and tied into a larger story with Cawl and Guilliman and the re-surgence of the Imperium in it's worst moment,etc,etc.

Please, show me that lore. You're welcome to try, but I know for a fact that it does not exist. The fact of the matter is, only Space Marines are stated to exclusively be men. The lore you're thinking of is regarding Space Marine geneseed, which is irrelevant to the issue of Custodes. They are created via "arcane genetic alchemy", and have never been stated to make use of geneseed at all.

The only piece of "lore" regarding their gender is the passage from their first codex stating that "it is a great honor for those of noble Terran houses to submit a son" (to be a candidate for being made a custodian). This wording was changed slightly in 10th edition to say "child" instead of "son", an intentional change which was confirmed by the custodian in The Tithes and their social media team.

But guess what? The first custodes codex came out less than a decade ago, during 7th edition! So no, there are not "decades" of "pre-ceding" lore.

Feel free to show me the lore you're citing.

Got my sangui boy in, he's a lot thinner than the other primarchs which makes him feel particularly small especially without his wings put on. He also doesn't have a toe joint which is weird, still a solid release and with his wings spread out he does look imposing.

Real tempted to complete my UM Termy set and pick up Draigo... but I'm also worried that the entire GK line is going to get the upscaled 2.0 treatment as soon as GW drops new mini models. Will have to sell them when that happens... Still I'd only be paying roughly $62 cad each for him and the last UM Terminator, could get my money back I bet. Plus I want those Shadow-Jaeger 1/18 to fit in with my 40k stuff as militia.

NTA but I've been into 40K since mid-late 5th edition, and I'm not a fan of the scale creep at all. The older JT figures were fine; they were significantly bigger than normal humans and matched the newer miniature scale quite nicely. These new figures are just stupidly big. That said, I do wonder if it was down to them directly copying the proportions of the game model which lead to him being bigger, and if we might not be due for a significant scale creep.
To be honest there's enough Marines in the older scale I'll be fine regardless, but I hope they don't upscale the non-Marine figures to match, that'd suck.

They're hundreds of figures in at this point. They're not going to redo them all, that would be insane. So you're gonna need to decide, do you stick with the old scale, or start a whole new collection and say all the characters made so far are skippable for you.

This scale creep is terrible even for JoyToy themselves, so I can't understand why they would want it. It pisses off their longtime customers, and they're slowly boxing themselves out of being able to make affordable vehicles/dreads/large units. A nice sized $125 dreadnought, sure, I can go for that. A $450 monstrosity that doesn't even fit on my shelf? Easy pass.
