Avoid heat as much as possible. I use baggies everywhere I can, usually craft bead ziplocs, to ensure no plastic is touching each other. And I use a nail clipper to clip a hole in the side of the bag to allow air escape since plastic will always offgas as well as allow better storage than air filled bags like packaging material. Long ago I found some Japanese blind box toys had literally welded themselves to the base of a plastic playset base I'd set them on, in a climate controlled room. Some plastics simply interact weird with each other. And I've had some figures plastic capes adhere to other figures and lost paint when separating the two.
But get that shit out of the attic!!! And if you can avoid a storage unit I would, theft, mice chewing shit, etc, is a bitch.
