The NXedge line kinda fits that bill, but they also feel like high-end candy toys more than something solid like an RD. Though the last one I bought was in 2018, so the newer ones may have better materials. I think the line has been superseded by a newer chibi-mecha line, though I can't remember the name.

Reviewers pretty much went if you already have the og dont bother. It is a straight improvement but not worth getting a new one for it.

They shipped in that it's "pick up for agent" for now, whatever that means. Usually this step lasts a day or two and it's properly shipped. 5 days since I got the mail for that step, 8 days since I paid. Their customer support is ass, I had to spam them some time ago to cancel a pre order.

It's a beautiful figure and has a very nice sculpt, but it has some oddly antiquated articulation limitations and weird design choices that seem really dumb.

The hands feel like they could very easily break, they're not flexible like RD or MB hands, whatever sentinel used for this figure's hands feels almost like hardened clay.

Also the material of the figure feels easy to chip.

Not many, because it seriously cuts down on articulation. Though MRS Crossbone line does all have fully functional core fighters.

The RD guntank has a working core fighter. I don't think any other figures in the line do. Like the other anon said its a pretty compromising feature to include, the only rx-78 toys I'm aware of that do it are the full action and the fix figuration, both of which are ancient, if you want the feature you're better off looking at model kits as more complex kits like the RG and MG generally include it.

Holy shit it's total utter garbage. Zabine was already kind of bad before in Crossbone but this is literally dogshit. Hasegawa didn't even watch F91 did he?

I got this too, it looks so classy that I had to get it despite normally hating those colors when they're on the billbine. The tubes on his legs do scare the shit out of me though; I would have thought they'd be much softer plastic than they are.

The Super HCM Pro RX-78 had a working corefighter gimmick! I've got it in storage right now so I can't show it, but here's an old pic of it alongside the RD ver ANIME. It's a nice figure that comes with a ton of accessories. It does feel a bit more delicate than an RD, but the articulation is decent and the detail/paint apps are excellent.

The YF-21 is just an impossible design to translate without sacrifice, it changes proportions far too much to have one that's accurate in every mode, you either prioritise battroid and gimp the fighter mode or vice versa, but you can't have both and still have a toy that's perfect transformation. The most the VF-1 lineart cheats is with the wings shrinking but the YF-21 cheats the wings, the nosecone, the legs and the arms by seriously fudging proportions. YF/VF-19 and the VF-17 have the same issue too, I'm not huge on how all the CGI valkyries look now being so slimmed down but at least you get toys that are damn near 1:1 what you see on screen with very little compromise.

I think the HMR Macross line is winding down again for now sadly, they didn't announce shit at the last Tamashii Nations and the only releases so far this year are the VF-19 Sound Booster and a VF-2SS re-release with a new stand, I was expecting them to at least announce a generic grunt VF-0 and a YF-19 now that the VF-19 is out but there was fuck all. Still waiting on them to do something with the VF-11MAXL and VF-17T prototypes too since there was an interview with the designer when the VF-19 came out that he was passionate about seeing those through to release.

I really hope not, feels like they were building momentum.

This year is also the 30th anniversary of Macross Plus so I'm hoping we get something for it in the HMR line.

There's also that new Macross Anime Project that was announced a while ago, so it's possible they could be gearing up for that.

I don't think it's getting cancelled just slowing down again like 2019 where it took a break from Macross for 3 years before they came back with the VF-0's, they announced some more Votoms releases so I think they're just shifting focus again. Wish they would just make another fucking line and leave it purely for Macross but what can you do.

Honestly though I like the DX 21 under the idea of it being part of the 21's life cycle as a prototype, where so much of it is unrefined and makes you wonder what the designers were smoking, because it turns out even the designers haven't perfected everything just yet. There's precedent irl for significant airframe overhaul if you know anything about what the YF-22 had to go through before it could become the F-22.

My head canon will forever be that for a time, the 21 had to fly with dummy gun pods when first testing the fast packs because of ground clearance issues with the original dimensions of the guns, all thanks to miscommunication between elements of General Galaxy.

I went to put in an order for just the fighter roar... and they want $54 to ship it. I might as well just buy the entire compatible kaiser again for that kind of shipping rape. I think the the level they too the redesigns of even the classic stuff is just all ugly. Its all the worst parts too of the Rebuild of Eva designs/redesigns too.
