Sticking strictly to in canon lore as much as possible is a big plus, sure, office politics lead to weird decisions in the lore, but over all doesn't hurt it, other than the rushed ending of the series.
Also actively watching his beard grow and turn grey in real time was interesting, as if the deep dive into bonkls actively aged him by a decade between the beginning and the end of the video.
