>>11327493I think the animatronics looked okay for the most part. I think the fill light was too much, the first two Jurassic Park movies had all the dinosaur stuff happen at night with really strong directional lighting which just makes everything look better.
That being said this shot has an animatronic in the foreground and a fully CGI raptor in the background and this is easily the best CGI in the entire franchise. The raptors in the first and second movie look a little plastic-y when viewed up close, and even though the raptors in the Jurassic World films are a million times more detailed, they still immediately read as CGI. I don't believe they're real for even a second, but JP3 still looks real as fuck to my animal brain. This is why it's so important to have physical models on set, in the final shot, because it forces the CGI to match
