>>11321086I wouldn't say they're the only country (China is getting surprisingly good at collector toys, and some Western figures are pretty decent for their price; Jada and GI Joe Classified spring to mind) but between Japan having a massive toy collector culture, some serious engineering pedigree, a massive drive to improve and innovate, and most importantly being a high-trust society with a healthy middle-class enabling the existence of a market for toys above Western retail budget but not in the "rich boomer with more money than taste" echelon. Also having the biggest comic and cartoon industry in the world helps (both for financing the figures and providing things to make figures of).
