Build/paint a robot with a loadout focused on melee combat! Anything from shields to swords to lances to axes to bare fists is fair game. There's no room for ranged weaponry here, however, so anything resembling a rifle, rocket launcher, cannon, pistol, or any other ranged weapon is a no-go (Small ranged weapons that are built into the kit itself like head vulcans are ok, however).

More clarification here:
>If the body part has a built-in ranged weapon (head/chest vulcans, claw beams, etc), then that's fine. If it's a separate part like the Alex's arm vulcans it's best to leave those off.
>Melee weapons with in-universe ranged capabilities (Like the Kimaris's lance or the Gyan's shield) are fair game too.
>Any scale, any brand, and any type of kit is fair game here. That means anything from Gundams to girlpla to miniatures are all free to use.

Same. It DOES come with a lot of shit, though. Reflectors with stands, an action base 4, alt damaged head, 12 fucking beam sabers (10 for fingers 2 for wrist), effects wire for extendo arms, and then presumably better engineering like actual color separation they show off in pic. Should it be double the price? Probably not, but it's the year 2020 +5 so rape is expected. The old kit was a lot of fun to build, so I'm looking forward to this one.

Building JMS Gundam MKII "21st Century Real Type" colors.
When I took this out of the box I honestly didn't even think it was a real color variation, I thought it was some cool shit JMS had cooked up like with some of their GM Spartan variations. As you might guess I don't know much about Zeta.

The plastic feels nice, I could probably mistake this for real bandai plastic.

I think it might be a change made by JMS when they bootlegged it? I looked up some reviews of the official HG MkII Revive and some have safety flags and some don't.

the joints are mostly fine, some of them are a bit loose (mainly swivel joints like the neck and the backskirt bazooka holder) so I tightened those with matte varnish

I finished up the gashapon zeta gundam and the hi-zack, kinda stinks the hi-Zack didn’t come with his shield or gun but for a 40 year old kit I’m pretty happy :} zeta has some serious issues though and I think it might be the plastic like his vfin, arm, flight pack, and shield all broke but were easily fixed

Alclad aqua gloss. I was using it as a protective coat so I could mask and paint the next color on the part and it had been sitting to dry and cure for about 5 days before spraying the tamiya on.

I don't think you're supposed to use that on anything other than Alclad metallic coats. And it's the only clear coat I know that can wreck an airbrush if not cleaned properly.

I still have a couple outstanding USAGS orders that have been delayed several times, a bunch of 00 HG kits and assorted other stuff. Also a few P-Bandai orders, though I'm also waiting for their May catalog to fully list because I don't want to spend $10 shipping on a single P Mission Pack.

If we're talking about to-be-released kits, I don't usually keep track of that stuff, but I'm still looking for an opportunity to order the Rosado Project Star Lily. It's the first girlpla I've ever considered buying.

Well, it has an entirely mechanical option, which is what attracted me to it. I don't feel an urge to get any of the 30 Minutes Sisters stuff or any other fleshy type girlpla. So I think I'm safe for the time being.

Though admittedly, I did buy the full HG Aerial lineup (along with every single option available) and have a GN Archer on order.

Psycho Mkii is my current hype kit I'm waiting for right now. Super excited for the giant flying war crime.
Outside of that, there are some Zoids kits getting reprinted. Namely, the Liger Zero + armors and I'm torn because I don't think I can justify buying 4 of them in one shot and idk that just the armor parts are worth $40 or whatever they're are.

There's no way they do it. At best we'd get MagnaGarurumon and then Susanoomon, which is probably for the best. None of them deserve to have their designs compromised for the sake of the gimmick. Magna and Kaiser/Emperor are also great standalone designs, though I kind of doubt we see the former.

i read on a modeling forum that this kind of crazing happens when an acrylic topcoat fully cures too much faster than the acrylic paint layer underneath, mainly by using water based acrylic clears over freshly painted alcohol-based acrylic. you can avoid it by waiting a day or so for the tamiya acrylics to fully cure before topcoating (or just use an alcohol based brand for topcoat instead)

I got SHF Freya and always wanted a Siegfried to have with her.
I now see the 1/100 HG one going up.
Only got experience building 1/144 gunpla, but those were also HG. Not much difference build-wise besides being a little taller?
Dunno why, but I kept avoiding the 1/72 kit of it.

Nobody buys already-built Gunpla. And even if they did, it would be at a severe discount because why wouldn't they just buy an unopened kit for cheaper that's guaranteed to have all the parts?

The only one you might be able to sell is the Turn A, and only because it's only partially built and is a pretty sought-after MG.

Most RG kits are fine, there are a handful that you might want to avoid if you can (things like the Aile Strike, Sinanju and Akatsuki). The "rule of thumb" is that most kits from the Unicorn onward are excellent, but you generally won't be screwed over by any RG kit.

HGUC kits tend to have bad motion range in the early days (as in, arms that can't bend past 90 degrees, worse if it's a transforming/partsforming kit), but older kits are also usually cheaper. If a kit looks suspiciously cheap, check the year of release (though newer grunts like the Leo tend to be very reasonably priced because people build armies out of them).

For MG kits, this is entirely personal opinion but if it's made before 2006 I would be very cautious about buying it unless it's literally the only way to own that kit. But I say this as someone who's had the original 1996 Zeta, 1999 Alex and 1999 ZZ. Those things either wouldn't transform properly, or required metal screws and rubber sleeves on the joints, or had the motion range of a brick, or all of the above.

So, as the other anon pointed out, newer kits generally come with better engineering, though this isn't a hard and fast rule (some early kits have engineering ahead of their time, while some later kits are obvious cash grabs that cut corners and as a result are sub-par products). If you have the ability to, go to Dalong and look at reviews of a kit you're interested in (use Google Lens on your phone to translate, since using your browser's translate feature might not work all the time). The pictures show you the kit's motion range, what the flaws are, where it needs better color correction, things like that. Though keep in mind that his reviews are written around when the kit released, so his standards tend to improve over time.

Honestly, I feel that a big reason we haven't gotten one is because Bandai has fallen for the sunk cost fallacy. The kit was dogshit and sold poorly, to the point where it's possible that they only barely made back what they spent in development costs and manufacturing the mold itself in those early years. So they banished it it to the "rarely ever reprinted" shadow realm in an attempt to create artificial scarcity, hoping that would drive up demand. Which, ironically, is being cut into by Daban and their bootlegs because of said artificial scarcity.

The other problem is that it's one of those wonky Gryps-era designs that just looks so toy-etic. So the odds of a Ver. 2.0 are not very likely, at least not before we get remasters of Qubeley and such.

I don't own any Sneed, 00, AGE kits because I found myself unable to get into those settings. The majority of kits I own are early UC, Mobile Fighter G Gundam, IBO and G-Witch (for the last one I didn't really enjoy the series but I did like the mechs). I've never had trouble filing my nubs down to flat using a basic Chinesium glass file. But then again, I enjoy the building process so I don't mind taking my time on it. I'm sure that the circular files can give you the same results faster, but I've never tried them myself.

Aside from some G kits, I own mostly shit from 79 and Zeta, actually, though currently have the RG Nu on my desk I need to finish. I genuinely don't like the look of most of the gundams after that especially once they started going the weird noodle look after Witch. I'm still torn on the Ariel, but I think it's growing on me. it is marginally better than an $8 dspiae siren or a $1 no-name glass nano file off aliexpress.
i think anons who have multiple have said they need to clean dust out of it less often when sanding.

Honestly, cleaning dust off of the file isn't even a huge deal, just have a roll of masking tape on hand and use it to stick off the dust every now and then. I don't think it's worth using water and a toothbrush, since that just creates a huge mess to clean up.

Also has anyone used this before? I bought it to fix some kits but from what I understand the instructions are;
1. Shake
2. Press down on tip
3. apply the coat(s) to dry for 5-whatever mins
4. Cap the pen after use
I just wanna know if i have to do anything special ton stop the flow of the chemicals outside of capping the pen.

I would ask the /m/ thread but that seems like shitpost central where it would be lost there. You guys actually answer my questions instead of whatever nonsense they do.

The way those pens works is when you press down on the tip it retracts which lets the liquid out so you just have to cap it.

I like mine over a Dspiae. Smaller profile and its not as aggressive so I find it easier to actually sand the nubs and not the plastic around it too. A quick wipe on your pants or a microfiber cloth is all thats needed to clean it and even then you gotta be doing tons of sanding with it to reach that point. I don't care for the new versions of it though as the profile is just too wide for simple nub removal.

Different anon, but it's basically a stripped down EG that includes just the Gundam and Beam Rifle. Two runners and super simplistic, basically the Free Sample version.

This gundam was my first and ast entry grade kit (outside of pokeplas) and he has been the only one that had it's joints become loose by posing. motherfucker made me paranoid of higher grade model kits but I have never had it happened again outside of this entry grade kit

The Workshop Version is significantly more basic than the EG. The skirt piece is effectively solid so you can only bend the hips slightly, the knees only bend 90 degrees, the waist can't tilt at all, and the arms have very basic motion range. It also only comes with a single Beam Rifle, no shield or bazooka. In other words, it has even less motion range than a 90s NG 1/144 kit.

Which, again, is perfectly fine, since these things are basically Free Samples that everyone can build for free at a Gundam Base.

I genuinely don't know the size of the box. It's a couple of HMM zoid kits (Firefox and Berserk Fuhrer). I'm assuming they're roughly MG sized? Never had one, so I don't know. Likewise, I don't know the shipping options because I wasn't presented with them.
