I keep shaking my head at what SMG4/Glitch greenlight as good designs to send off to the factories for production.

Examples:
SMG4 introduces Leggy and instead of giving her a smiling face as the character usually does in the episodes, they slap a frowny face on her and expect us to buy it.

Glitch starts off their TADC merch with frowny face Pomny and expect us to buy it. Another toy company is stepping up to bat and they're starting with the frowny face...

Neutral face or happy face would sell much more!! Why don't they get that!??!?!?

That is the exact reason I didn't get their Pomni. I wanted Kinger too but they chose that bizarre pose for him so I didn't bother buying that either. Like do they not have people who oversee these things and say "no this looks weird/bad, we need to try again".
I'll admit I did buy a bunch of the blind boxes though kek.

Thank you for confirming my concern.
They probably don't care at the moment since unknowing Purchasers for retailers saw this was the next Skibidi Toilet and wanted to have merch on their shelves.
Now my Toys R Us in Japan is suffering with a dozen of those ¥5,000 (about $50) Animatez Figures.

reposting from a previous thread, but do you guys pay much attention to specific plush brands? just last year I discovered the wonderful stuffed toys produced by german companies steiff and gund and fell in love. I cant put into words just how perfect both of their offerings are, but if you have money burning a hole in your pocket, consider looking into them.

I currently own Snuffalupugus from the Gund Sesame Street collection. I cant recommend him enough.

I usually buy plushies based on vibes while window shopping, so I haven't attached to a brand yet. I've heard great things about Jellycat and such while browsing around plush communities, as well as the ever present Fumos on 4chan.

What kind of things do you consider necessary in a high quality plush?

I am in the process of making a custom catgirl plushie to dress up and cuddle. It is a lot of work, but I am so excited as I near the end of customizing her. Next up, making the full pattern in the proper, final fabrics.

I'm normally not much of a plush collector but the lines I mentioned really opened my eyes to some of these higher quality brands. I suppose the big thing that brought them to my attention was their choices of materials and pattern design. The materials chosen arent only high quality, but they're appropriate to each character too. They really have the look of the screen used puppets down. Even the embroidered eyes on Snuffy look good despite the others making use of plastic ones. Just compare Gund's efforts to playskools and you see the stark contrast.

You see similar choices made in Steiff's Disney line. Mickey's shorts for example were made of a courdoroy material while the rest of his body sans his gloves and shoes was made up of this incredibly soft velvet. Eyore was made up of a similar cloth to Mickey's "skin". But baloo and pooh utilize a slightly fuzzier cloth aswell as different stuffing, they're more beanbag like. It's that attention to detail I really appreciate and am willing to shell more for. The disney store plush of old used to exhibit this same quality.

the only "brand" i follow closely is PlushLife nowadays. only because i missed their dragon 6 years ago and got two of their new dragon lineup from last year, and they're easily my favorite plushies now

biggest regret last year was not buying a MEGA one
can't find any second hand, they're all hoarded by speculators and one scalper in specific

Finding plushes is a lot harder than finding older figures. Unless you have more information. Was it at a friend's house? Maybe it still has a brand tag. Or was it on a website?
