They probably thought Jack Black is a perfect pick for a video game tie-in since he was in the Mario movie and that made a billion. While you also likely had some boomers in the room that think 2003 was just a couple years ago and remembered School of Rock and thought Jack Black was a perfect cast since kids love him!
But the toy seems more like they are trying to scam Walmart more than anything. If they can convince Walmart to buy 100K units, who the fuck cares after that point. They made their money and now it's Walmart's problem to unload that shit on kids.
