Toy Fair is tomorrow! Gonna be lots to talk about. Super7 has Ultimates wave 13 up for preorder, including the dinky bonus pack for buying from them directly. Sounds like future vintage Playmates figures are stuck in the "not gonna happen in this lifetime" zone.

my big complaint with it is that none of the belts/overlays really fit snugly in place so some parts can feel extremely fiddly since they move any time you touch them, but its hardly a dealbreaker and I would rather these parts be loose than glued in place and risk breaking every time you use articulation

Anonymous
>>11353300 aw are they? that's a shame, the sculpts looked good. It's hard to compete with the big names, but those guys have big prices too, so I thought for once super7 could be the cheap option
Anonymous
>>11353302 to give you a brief rundown: for the most part S7 seems great, but it's the little things. Lots of breakages, some tight joints by far more extremely loose joints. Bad weapon proportioning for some bad guys. A baffling choice for anyone wearing a shell, to have an internal pelvis piece that goes all the way up inside the shell and attached with a ball joint, which is super loose. wrong colors on Ace Duck. uhhh some people don't like April's waxy skin (I like it, it's translucent like real skin). and... there's some questionable choices of extra heads when extra accessories would have worked better, or heads that come apart so you'd only have to replace part of it and keep the cost down.
there's a few other issues but I'm having trouble thinking of them. Most of their mistakes they've tried to make up for. Like Raph's sai were always bent, so they continually put more replacement sai in this or that.
Anonymous
>>11353315 It's not like they're horrible but people seem to complain about the molds on the sculpts being pretty obvious with like a line down the middle of Minus One Godzilla.

>>11353320 oh Triceraton's tiny hands.. not awful but still not what they should be
Krang's extremely loose walker legs that you can't tighten because they're normal joints. Most guys have pinned hips which are a terrible idea and it's hard but not impossible to tighten them. lotta floor polish in use. and Space Cadet Raph's torso is too small, as if the space suit were barely a thin layer over his shell. That's all I can think of.
Anonymous
>>11353322 Oof, yeah, that's never good. we tolerated that shit in the 90s but it's unacceptable these days.
oh that also reminds me, obvious break in the sculpt on the faces for... at least Wingnut, because that makes it easier to assemble the face and paint the teeth i guess. and Leatherhead's body looks weird.

Woo got metalhead michelangelo. I see the packaging no longer has the character logo embossed, I am super okay with that. Better they cut costs there. The green indeed has only the faintest hint of metallicity. But interestingly it is also a darker green than the original toy, hewing closer to mike's original playmates toy colors rather than the generic emerald they put over the chrome on the original metalhead mike. it looks like they recycled regular metalhead's box blurb, so.. fff. the silver detailing on the body is neat, and the ankle cables are not green either.. which makes me wonder if they just couldn't get that color in soft plastic. The clear eyes head is a lot better this time about the opaqueness of the paint, but not perfect. I wonder if they know what reactive neon plastic is, because this is the DULLEST orange clear plastic I've ever seen. Head swapped easily. the new alt head with the mouth open looks fucking stupid and I don't understand it. how did the cheek-teeth move? The looseness of the internal pelvis piece is still total, but the hips themselves are fine this time. one of his elbows is badly stuck and.. feels misassembled? it doesn't seem to line up right, and it swivels at the elbow while the functional one doesn't. i don't wanna mess with it any more, the seller said no returns. aaaand that's gonna be a problem, because the backpack's straps are misassembled. woof. got two left straps. nevermind. time to get a refund.
