>>11360739The GL example is why almost nobody talked about Mattel in any positive way and why Mattel was generally ignored on /toy/.
And McFarlane's license didn't start until 2020 (Christmas 2019?)... but ok, DC Generals went from being 85 post threads (
https://archive.palanq.win/toy/thread/7399613) once a month to 300+ (
https://archive.palanq.win/toy/thread/7553392) once Mcfarlane shit start getting announced
Of course, most discussion in those threads and photos arent even of Mattel shit anyway. DCC, Mezco, Figuarts, Mafex,... and even Hiya Toys gets posted more than Mattel's crap.
Here's the almost monthly DC Generals before rumors of Mattel's demise
August 2018: 7106767 zero posts
June 2018: 7003583 54 posts despite SDCC HYPE!!! (aside from the announcements, only OC posts are mostly of DCC figures)
April 2018: 6880203 almost 300 posts because argument over a DCC line
March 2018: 6841718 zero posts but that's probably because the Figuarts figure is ugly
Febrary 2018: 6759493 66 posts, basically just to shit on Mattel's newest figures and there's some DCC/Mafex discussion
January 2018: 6709675 29 posts, for a Hiya starter image.
Novembe 2017: 6618274 7 posts... not a DC General, but there were no DC threads December and DCUC only.
June 2017: 6375370 377 posts, to talk about Mezco/Mafex/DCC stuff.
This is how the DC Generals had been for close to a decade. Almost no one posts Mattel shit because no one buys Mattel shit.
For a big property for DC, you can literally see for yourself how rare DC threads used to be when Mattel had the license. Since collector lines don't release as many figures, shit that people on /toy/ were actually buying, it's why the DC GEnerals were so rare.
McFarlane shows how once a company who actually makes shit consumers want, how active DC threads could be. 100+ posters every week, if not bi-weekly, once they started releasing figures. Almost the same as the Marvel General
