Domestic Toy Collecting Is Dead

No.11370376 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I'm gonna make this post and check in on it, in a week. Tbh I feel like i make this post once a year, and it always causes good debate.

Anecdote: I went on a toy hunt to 6 different stores, and the only interesting thing I found was Cinderace, and desu i didn't even want cinderace that bad, and just left him there. What i saw was alot of mcfarlane z list characters, Spiderman unlimited, and remnants of the Antman ML wave. It genuinely made me angry? depressed? exhausted? I just felt like it was a complete and total waste of my time, and I couldve spent that day alot more productively. There is literally nothing on shelves for A-list characters. the only exception might be He-man, which i guess i'll have to collect now if i want something to buy, or idk? save my money. I think i'm going with save my money.

It feels like theres genuinely no reason to go to the store to check the Toy Aisle. There is simply nothing there. The only thing i'm a completionist on was pokemon selects over the last year, and even then not really since im skipping cinderace and zeraora.

so my questions are
1. What caused this? why are they not just stacking the pegs with comic wolverine, spiderman, and hulk (ok but the red hulk is genuinely one of the only good toys in stores rn). wasn't the secret wars wave supposed to fix this?

2. Is it going to get worse? each year it feels like the toy aisles get less interesting. I remember anime heroes coming out, and immediately getting sacked, and I havent seen a new Street fighter figure since Bison, so i guess they're online Exclusive now? It feels like cool lines come out, and then just stop randomly.
