Are you going to buy it? I'm not; because I don't actually need to save every single penny when it comes to luxury toys. If I want some cheaper lego to make a Pokemon, I can just find or make a moc and order the pieces straight from bricklink. I just don't get how a brand like this is going to survive because it's trying to be a discount luxury product, which never seem to survive, ever. It would have been more profitable for mattel to license their shit out to lego instead.

And lego fans are autistic; they'll toss five pieces of the right size and color, but megablocks, into the garbage just to find the sixth one which is a real lego piece. They aren't going to want their lego organization thrown off by incorporating an alternate brand. I toss 25 year olds megablocks into the trash, but keep old chewed up lego pieces.

Basically, why are people going to buy something that they know is lower quality?

Last week I visited Buffalo Phil's in the Wisconsin Dells, which is a very odd combination of western-themed decor, train-delivered food, giant Lego displays, and an attached indoor theme park. Then bought a $10 Lego Space Shuttle on a whim and all the old memories came back.
This week I feel an uncontrollable pull back to my Lego-filled childhood...I think it's happening. I am getting back to Lego after not having bought a set in 20 years. What have I missed?
This time I have the money to buy sets and a wife who is wanting to try building Lego as well but we have to agree on sets to buy. What sets do women like that will also be fun to build? The new Tuxedo Cat looks promising. I want to get the Icons Space Shuttle Discovery but I don't know if she will go for that.

All the birthday accessories are shit except maybe the dragon firework.
The cake is too small. The whole point of the cake is that it's fuckhuge. This cake here looks regular sized for Lego.
The tent is lame.
The tree looks like shit. At that point it would have been better to just build a proper trunk that just ends at some point. This thing is either a tree nor a starting point for a nice tree. The play mechanism with the turntable is pretty cheap.

There just is nothing to really talk about. Lego is a big community with a big fanbase, but there isn't much depth or theory to it. It's one company that has made the same product for like 80 years. There isn't like a lore to complain about like Warhammer; there isn't a bunch of different competing companies like vidya, there just is straight up nothing besides making fun of the babies that complain too much. Lego has MOCs but no one ever cares about them, so the most interesting and compelling aspect begets no conversation or replies usually.

Lego is shocking in that there is basically nothing to BS about. It's hard to find youtube videos for lego that aren't brainrot top 10 lists with a dozen edits a second. Maybe it's better in person.

I legitimately thought people would be into MOCs, but they only care about putting clone troopers (that they hate) onto grey base plates, so they can hate the next batch of Star Wars kits, while they buy 10 of them.

I guess making fun of the clone army builders is fun because it's enjoyable to belittle people's petty complaints about luxury products.

If we're going by the Warhammer anthology, most Lego fans are fans that build their kits to the exact specifications, no kitbashing, or weathering, just building the minis exactly to the letter.

Same. there are lot of cool newer themes but all people that want to discuss them see boomerfaggotry and nostalgiafaggotry and decide not to touch lego community

i cant wait when boomerfags will die out and we can finally discuss cool themes. It's the same reason i dont visit their /moc/ general. it seems all they care about is bland castle/space

Lego has to plan stuff out super-far in advance due to factory setups and design and stuff, they are crazy-slow and unable to jump on "trends" at all.

they didn't realize that the D&D stuff would sell so well, and if it did, then they would surely want to do more, but it will take them a while to catch up (but by then, it might be too late?)

if I had to guess, Hasbro would want them to do Magic: The Gathering instead of more D&D, since MTG is Hasbro's biggest money machine at the moment

Yes sir. Shame the trap door part I got is janky as hell and they sent me the wrong window pieces. I'm ordering a Lego Pick a Brick order tomorrow, so I'll be adding those on to my order.

I voted gor the set in bricklink series and was sad it didn't go through, but very glad he put it on rebrickable. I'm almost finished and overall it's pretty dang solid. No part of the build is awkward or fragile in the way many MOC builds are, and it's got space to reach and play in every area.

I have seen moc builders create pretty amazing stuff that only looks good as long you don't move the piece, because things are either not connected and are just hold there by tension, or the connection doesn't have enough clutch power and falls of too easily.

Basically an official lego set doesn't suppose to come apart easily from like an 8 year old playing with it and not even dropping it.

Sometimes lego does mess up, I had sets that have some very flimsy connections and pieces fall off just from shaking the set, but officially Lego tries hard to avoid that.

I just built Castle Wolfstone from a previous Bricklink Series that didn't go through. I really liked the design. The build was a lot of fun and it's super structurally sound both whike building and as a final model. It also has lots of playability in features and plenty of space for figures.

Sadly my shitty trap door element arrived warped and so that feature doesn't work for me right now, but I'm ordering replacements from the official Pick a Brick.

This is the best news i could possibly hear because lego and pokemon are 2 of my hobbies...

I'm at the point of leaving pokemon hobby because now Pokemon is swarmed by investorcucks that just scalp literally every product and even fight in toy stores over pokemon cards.

I'm 100% sure that lego pokemon sets will be scalped as well and will be hard to obtain. Mark my words....

I just hope it will be playsets and characters - not some shitty overpriced reddit boxes for people to post and write something like "My wife gifted me this :)".

I guess you're kinda right, I've never seen normies talk about Lego Sonic. If it wasn't for some of the play features making things inaccurate or designers making shit up (like the Knuckles mech, why does Knuckles even need a mech?) I enjoy Sonic's play features. Knock rings over and knock animals out of Badniks to replicate Sonic gameplay works surprisingly well.
Pokémon should be filled with all kinds of flick fire missiles to represent Pokémon attacks.

--why have Lego make tiny new minifig-sized molds for what would be less-expensive sets?
--you thought Animal Crossing was bad with 400 villagers, and they make 1 or 2 minifig-sized versions per set? there are 1000 Pokemon, the chance they'll make your favorite? almost zero.
-----if the Pokemon are instead built with bricks, you could make your own version of your favorite pokemon... sooo "better for you!" (I say sarcastically because of course minifig-sized versions would be better)

I could list a dozen more reasons Lego would "think" are legit reasons, nobody wants to read a blog post, but... the biggest argument?

The sets won't be that big, maybe one 18+ set per year.

Lego Pokémon will definitely be a long-term theme. This solidifies the Nintendo and Lego partnership for good.

Trainers are very rarely done in any toyline, and surely not for lack of want. Mega never did, Jazwares never did. The last time we saw trainers was from Tomy and Figma years ago.

Based on how those are worded, it sound like there's going to be some level of actually building some Pokemon, but also some kind of catching/social aspect. Maybe a spin on the Mario digi-figs? An app? In either case, it sounds like it's going to be more than just static models.

Never in a million years would I have expected to see an actual LEGO Pokemon theme coming out, there's so much material to choose from that the sky is the limit here. Here's the thing you make a Pikachu minifig once and you get to repack it in all the sets for as long as you have the license. You can blind bag pokemon minifigs too. With the catching and collecting aspect of pokemon there's a non zero chance it could happen.

We've already seen Pikachu's tail, and that certainly wasn't large enough for a 'large scale' Pikachu set. A Pikachu won't be as big as a Lego bird, minifig scale just isn't realistic.

I still need to order a few parts for my Wolfpack MOC because the trapdoor frame and windows frame pieces came warped, so I need new ones for the shutters to open or trap door drop. But otherwise, the model is great and I'm glad to be finished with it. This might be the coolest Castle, it has all the essentials needed and I've had a blast playing with it.

Doomer take: I have a sneaking suspicion that TLG is going to put the tech behind the Mario electronics into their Pokemon sets. In their minds in this scenario, they believe this a good way to differentiate their products from the Mega sets and "flex" on them. Prepare for a weirdly shaped Pikachu that will do his PikaPika sounds and make electric attack noises when stepping on a special plate. Also prepare for only Pikachu and a very select few other 'mons to get that special treatment at all. It looks like this series had a late restock, so check local places again. A bookstore I go to for scanning had a D&D box wheeled out the other day after having only 26/27 for a while. Got Lady of Pain and 2 Dragonborn Paladins and now have the full series. And a lot of willing extras because of their male/female heads for 5/12 characters.

You guys really are dumb, no Lego pokemon sets aren't going to be scalped they're not going to fly off the shelves. It's Lego. It's expensive already. Those pokemon cards fly off the shelves because of the randomness of each pack and the fact that Pokemon cards have been a thing for quite a while. A lego set isn't unique or rare or hard to find.

I predict they will be discounted within a year just like every other Lego licensed theme. Look at the recent Lego set, if you had told people a few years ago there would be Lego Zelda you guys would be saying the same shit, but the set didn't sell well and will be discounted by the end of this year.
It's just a false equivalency. Pokemon cards have been scalped for decades now. Lego is not the same thing just because it's licensed.

Short term you can probably expect the card scalpers to try to hit the lego. Between Surging Sparks releasing in October and Christmas locally we had 2 guys trying to scalp the pokemon squishmallows.
Eventually they gave up upon realizing the company that makes squishmallows will ship out another case every time 2 get sold.

Buildable display Pokeball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, and Master Ball
CMF Series featuring iconic characters potentially with their unique Pokemon

We really need to get a clear idea of what they can do with the theme and they need to get a sense of what people would want from them with a Lego Pokemon theme.

The annoying thing here is MEGA made good progress working through 'mon, even less popular ones.
You'll be lucky to get anything more than the 3 base starters and pikachu over 5 years with LEGO.
Some think this a win but there's probably better mocs out already than whatever overpriced shlock lego wanna do and I hate monopolies.
