If they’re smart they’ll basically make mega force but with the base suits being Mmpr and the rest of the zordon era suits power ups. Preferably a complete reboot and not a continuation. new characters, new villains, new robot, all of it
you can't appeal to kids with nostalgia like the comics

30 years, advancements in 3D animation, VFX, AI and no one has yet to remaster this movie and remake the Zord battle scenes and erase that utter garbage. They had the reference for the Ninja Mega Zord, the toys were even out on shelves, and they made that horror of a CG Mega Zorn to put on screen. Fuck Saban for doing that. My 10 year old self will forever be salty as the day I sat in the theatres looking at that thing.

The Playmates line is reliant on classic MMPR regardless. At best the new series will repurpose the old costumes and open the door for cross sales, but buy and large this playmates line is banking on the AI remastering of the original series.

Returning to japanese footage is the only way to keep the franchise alive because of how much it keeps costs down. The fact that they're seemingly leaning in the direction of entirely original productions practically misses the point entirely. I wish they'ed just stuck to that paramount animated film plan. The helmet is wonky, but the only time they got his helmet close to right, is Hasbro's second attempt at it and even then it's still a little off. Other than that though, the SHFs are probably the best versions of the Rangers you'll get, even though they're pretty old now. It would be nice of Bandai redid them, they'd sell, but I just don't see them doing it.

I wish they would George Lucas that movie and re-do the CGI. Could have probably given it a 30th anniversary limited theatrical re-release. The original film with modern CGI would probably gross more than the 2017 failure.

I find it incredibly annoying that hasbro and its peers will end up owning properties like VR Troopers, Masked Rider, Vortech, etc through a series of hostile takeovers and acquisitions yet they wont even do the bare minimum of releasing these shows online or through physical media.

That said it was a pleasant surprise to see the VR Troopers make their return in the boom comics, but it's bitter sweet since you can only watch the show through ancient TV rips some random guy dumped onto Youtube 20 years ago. I guess it could be worse, Vortech is effectively loat media these days. But you'd think these sort of strapped for cash companies would go all out on cleaning up and sharing the shit they own just to make some passive income off it.

Regarding the disney project, am I the only one that thinks the property should just go fully animated? They're insistent on never again returning to the saban recycled footage formula, so why even keep things in live action?

I agree. Disney and then later Saban developed animated projects that never came to fruition. Saban was working on an animated film called Power Rangers Origins before halting production to develop the live-action film. There were posters made and even a leaked trailer.

Live action is what made Power Rangers special. It loses what made it unique if you make it a cartoon. Also Power Rangers with boundless story potential has not been a good thing in the comics. The restrictions of live action help keep it from going TOO stupid.

Animated adaptations were a breach of the deal with Toei. Don't know if it's still the case now that things have drastically changed, but that clause is likely still in effect to some degree.

How well do these scale with the Lightning villains? I have the Mezco one line up and they are pretty good height wise but the proportions of the 5 seem off. I mean, from pictures. I have not opened mine yet as I preordered and then new images came out. They looked good in the samples.
