Does anyone know the origins of this asuka keychain? I've been trying to find it for a while now and I've had no luck. I assume it's official. Not really a toy but I figured this was the best place to ask.

By origin, I'm guessing you mean the manufacturer and not the episode with the inflation fetish.
In case you don't know, it was episode 10: Magmadiver, but I do not know the manufacturer.

I think it was some gag related to the pressurized heat suits, like hers accidentally overinflated or something. Weirdly enough, I've only ever seen that episode once, so I don't remember it all too well.

It was a haha funny moment to lighten the mood. It's called "comedic relief" and is done to keep dark media from being total misery porn and making you depressed. Same reason why Pen Pen exists or why Miura was forced to put Puck in Berserk. It's not an inflation fetish thing like memetards who haven't watched the show think it's a fucking looney toons gag.
