Fossilizers make sense as weapons for Beast Wars guys so I get why they did them. They never go far enough with these -izer gimmicks, they do one year of them then they just do some other idea but never really expand on it. Seems like they're just dropping them altogether in AotP though, at least I don't see anything on the horizon similar to it.

The only thing I hadn't secured are the SS86 Scrapper and Bonecrusher, and since I was unsure of wether or not I wanted them in the first place to replace my third party Devastator, I guess this makes my choice for me.

Kek. In a way, Megatron kind of took care of that for them. I really hope the Quickstrike leak means we'll actually get some transmetals at some point. Dinobot II's design is so fucking sick and, like Tigerhawk, he's one of those toys I wanted as a kid but never got.

If you want the short run of it everything is going to slow down hard. Hasbro and these toy companies usually have the product already made and finished about a year in advance to when we see them and they are usually "on the water" about 6 months prior to when they reach US warehouses and will usually sit in those warehouses for a couple months at best. That means anything that is suppose to come out between now and August is going to still roll out, it might be at much higher prices but it's already made so they will wan to deal with it. Everything coming out after August will be very pricey if it still rolls out because they will be certainly hit by those tariffs making the price hard for consumers to commit too them. Anything that is in the pile of leaks will like be put on hold, or just stop an whatever run is made get tossed in some way like the last unreleased wave of Reveal the Shield in 2011. From there I wager we have a 2 year dead spell as they start from scratch trying to figure out how to sell toys again.

There was a cut episode that explained that. Dinobot II is the other half of Rampage's spark stuffed into a new chassis that was cloned and mutated from the last of the original Dinobot's DNA that Megatron had on-hand. Initially, he had nothing to do with the original Dinobot beyond looking like him, but at some point Rattrap found OG Dinobot's memory backup (remember how there were several episodes before Dinobot's death where he's seen randomly fiddling with a computer with a cable hooked up to himself? He was creating and updating his backup because he had already decided he was going to go out in a blaze of glory even before all the theatrics he went through), and after infiltrating the Darksyde and engaging Dinobot II one-on-one, managed to upload it into him. It brought back OG Dinobot for, like, two seconds, before the Rampage personality overrode it, but it remained inside him up until the finale. When Rampage was finally killed, there was nothing suppressing the Dinobot memory data, and it took over until he, too, died.

I guess I meant more the fact that he has Dinobot's speech mannerisms and everything despite being made from a piece of Rampage's spark, and Dinobot's scanned raptor DNA. As did Megatron's previous clone.

They're literally on the incorrect sides of the upper arm, front and back instead of left and right. Check the original Rattrap toy (that was the basis for the show model) or the generations one (based on the show model), those are correct.

Pretty sure the guys at Takara were looking at a bad frame of the show when designing those, otherwise I just don't understand how they got them wrong when they nailed all the other BW Masterpieces.

I wonder if it's because kids liked Rhino as a Rhinox representation. Frankly I always thought he was the worst.
Beetle was my favorite, he feels the closest to a legit basic. Manta is the beast equivalent of a lazy jetformer, but is boosted on how interesting mantas are and the cool aquatic theming on the robot mode. Panther is like a cheaper version of the cheetor mold but still ok.
Always bummed me out how disappointing the Transmetals promo was in comparison. they should've had Tigatron and better robot modes. Dinobot's arms being sculpted to the side flaps is one of the biggest crimes of happy meal toysever.

BBTS has for some but they don't change preorder to backorder. I was going to order another Scrapper to surprise my friend to discover that it still listed as "Preorder" even though my pile of loot has one. It's been my biggest complaint about them as for Pulse, yeah they are slow but that can work to your favor when you see them out in the wild causally. You can easily cancel it and no stress the whole time.

Ok, Hastak, please listen to me. Two words, PARTS SEPARATION.
Almost every single figure’s head is already two parts. Mold the faces in gray silver and put the screw hole on the back of their face. In a perfect world, every head would be 3 parts; the helmet the face and the eyes/visor. Even if we cant get separated eyes on every figure at least molding the face in color would delete one potential paint flaw. 40 fucken years and damn near every single TF I own has something wrong w its face or eyes. Its actually incredibly rare to get a perfect head portrait. Get it together.

but even if the mouth of the ray was not dedicated into a launcher like that, there's just only so much 'ray head and torso' you can make into a transformer. it's still gonna have giant wings hanging off.
The only way it could work.. and this is one hell of a stretch but at least for a transmetal they could have done it.. is to make the wings a bit less 'manta' and more 'arwing' so they have nacelles close to the body.. you could flatten them a little, but then have two flat pieces fold into each other to make two solid limbs, which happen to have manta wings hanging off (or put those on struts so they can move back)
that way the wings are smaller, and more manageable. and maybe part of each one can come off and be a sword.

After getting Red Alert and Optimus, I felt it'd be best to get Hot Shot to finish the set, so I bought on on the aftermarket.

Holy shit he's bad. Like, frustratingly bad. You can barely articulate him without something coming undone, his knee range is terrible because of the windows on the back of his legs which don't even secure in place, and his proportions are compact and lifeless. I sympathize with you but I think you'll find a lot of people here surprisingly don't care about cars at all. Which is curious because everyone here also needs the figures to transform. But they primarily want the robot mode good even at the expense of the vehicle mode.

You can sort of appreciate Armada more if you see them more like a late attempt to make G1/Brave-esque toys. GaoGaiGar was only like 5 years before Armada, and Webdiver, the prior Takara attempt to do a Brave-esque line, was the year or two before. so if you give them that leeway that they're attempts to design like that you might get the designs more. That said, I do get how frustrating they can be. The entire line was designed around implimenting a backlog of gimmick ideas Takara had ready.

Cyclonus' articulation is similar to Demolisher. Thrust actually has all the standard joints a current core class would have, but hindered by the gimmicks and no-hands
Tidalwave is missing knees. Alt mode still works great and better than the titan at being a Minicon carrier.

Main thing is that it's unlikely that they'll redo the more unique Minicon gimmicks like:
>Demolisher's chair and front launcher
>Cyclonus' front dock (with gear linkage gimmick tied to rotor spinning mechanism)
>Thrust's back dock
>Blurr's back dock

I really wish The Fallen was a commander. Make him the same size as Magmatron, bulk out his legs a bit, make his backpack rise above his head, some more flame parts, and make his alt mode more solid and he's perfect.

As he is I feel like he's upgrade bait for someone like DNA to make a set of leg shells to bulk his lower legs up and fill in the tank gaps, some backpack risers and maybe some shoulder armor to make his turret complete.

I owned almost all of CW. Still have most of it. I just finished going through every single piece of it and I can confidently say that Legacy Menasor is massively underrated. Especially if we are comparing it to CW. While far from perfect, Menasor is actually a functional toy in gesalt mode whereas most of the CW’s arent. They just flop about, fall apart, and topple over constantly. Even with $100’s in upgrades. Now I am looking toward the future and it appears Superion will suffer from some of the same weaknesses as Menasor however looks like they corrected some things on Devastator. Mr, John Hastak if you are reading this maybe its not too late for Bruticus’ ankles. Their feet need to be able to tilt forward and backward. One or the other is not enough. Ankle tilts alone are not enough. Ankle rotation would be ideal. None of this is too much to ask for especially with these skeleton designs. Also ab crunch and look down. Ab crunch. Look down. These guys do not look up at anyone. The look down at people. Do you understand that? Thank you.

There's a panel on his chest/car hood that flips up so you can store his head away. It's easy to open up when his head is out, but almost impossible to open while his head is stored away because there's no good place to get a solid grip.

His wrist-gun also stores away in his calf flap and same issue, easy to put away, difficult to get out due to lack of leverage.

I was just admiring mine today and feeling bad for everyone who got one. He may not even be a good comparison because I feel like we got blessed with him at retail with a $90 msrp because he couldve been a $150 haslab and done even better. The fact that he ended up on discount is criminal and I am certain he will come with a massive late tax at some point down the road

On a more positive note, I was really worried about how flat the chest looked in promo pics, it isn't as bad in person. It has some really shit hinge design that breaks the sculpt, but at least he isn't a board.

The head ball is very nicely emotive.

I have the backpack transformed wrong so that it sticks up behind his head, there are 5mm holes something could easily peg in, and that would end up right over the main front gap in the tank mode. Some shoulder armor to cover the mushroom pegs and maybe even give him his double barreled tank mode would be awesome. There are even MORE holes those would fit in...

Magmatron is a fantastic figure, it's insane that Deathsaurus needed to be a haslab at the price he was to achieve so little in comparison. If Deathsaurus had been mainline with just his Breastforce partners and a toy accurate gun I don't think anyone would have had a problem.

The Fallen 100% deserved the same love and attention Magmatron got, especially with how shrimpy he will be next to Star Convoy, as the villain of the set. Again, The Fallen should be slightly bigger than Grimlock at least.

The hollow bit just below the barrel is unfortunate, but seeing what the transformation does to fill it up makes it sting less

The back armor can be unplugged and swapped, and there are still sculped furnace blowers right in front of them, problem is that they have to be swapped back for transformation since the spikes interfere with the chest armor fitting between the treads.

Pretty rude for such a clueless guy. Japanese companies list the materials used for their products. You can also look up this issue online, they literally have a thread on this topic on tfw. For recent releases, Beachcomber and Sandstorm both have instances of the rubber melting parts and stripping paint.

Recently, the U.S. government announced new tariffs on imported plastic hobby toys, effective April 2 and April 9, 2025. What’s HappeningThe new tariff rates are now being applied and vary depending on the country of origin:China: 104%Vietnam: 46%Japan: 24%Because so much of the collectible toy world is sourced from these regions, these changes are hitting our entire industry — including TFSource. Nearly all of our items are sourced from these regions. Once items arrive in the U.S., Customs applies these new tariffs, which must be paid before we can receive and ship the goods. This additional cost is substantial, and unfortunately unavoidable, making it extremely difficult for TFSource to absorb the cost fully.Impact on Pricing
The good news is that all in stock or currently domestic in transit products will not be impacted by current tariffs. Until then TFSource has no choice but to increase prices on many upcoming preorder items, both new and previously announced. This includes existing preorders that have not yet arrived or cleared U.S. Customs. We understand this is disappointing, and we want to be transparent: honoring earlier preorder pricing on many items is no longer feasible, as doing so would result in unsustainable losses for the company.
We know this may be frustrating news, and we didn’t make this decision lightly. We’re doing everything we can to manage the impact, including:Absorbing costs wherever possible

Nah, it's a poor retool of the RotF Megatron. Still has the RotF chest, and the transformation scheme suffers for it, making the legs and jetmode kinda ass-looking.

Yeah, and the Baiwei release comes with the upgrade kit if you want him (tho, their head looks weirder imo).
Ultimately I still dislike the jet and legs, though. It's something even the original 2007 Voyagers and Leader got better than the SS, because unlike the SS, the wings didn't have to fold out of the legs. The MPM just expands on their transformations, and looks stellar.
Similar thing going on with Bay 1-3 Optimus, where the latest SS mold is an extensive retool of Evasion Mode OP which's why his proportions are so boxy and weird, and his feet just hang out on the truck bed. If they did a new mold based on the Battle Blades Voyager/RotF Leader, he'd be perfect.

I really hope they do a new run of SS figures that take inspiration from their Masterpiece ones, which all seem to have been coming out at the same time if not after their SS versions, and are just all easily nicer (Brawl, Bonecrusher and Blackout stand out in my mind).

I tried to talk myself into believing the Studio Series Optimus was good at the time, and it isn't terrible, but the HFTD figure was better in just about every regard. Current Hasbro can't do that, though. Not even at the leader price point.

From the outset a lot of SS figures were inferior to HasTak's original efforts (>>11397397). Starscream--one of the line's best--is just an upsized DOTM deluxe (an awesome toy to be fair). So no.

There's good stuff in there, including some SS86, but it wasn't the last bastion of peak Hasbro people were wanting it to be. It just felt novel to have some actual vehicle modes given how little effort they put into them most of the time now.

Because commander class now shares its spot with combiners, and there are a LOT of combiners. I’m pretty bummed about it, as both the combiner shells and the core bots that come with just aren’t as good as what a standard commander class has to offer.
