I really don’t get the whole retro figure trend, and Hasbro’s Indiana Jones line is a prime example. They re-released figures based on the old Kenner molds, but the quality is worse than the originals—sloppy paint and cheap materials. They couldn’t even get the material for Marion’s dress correct, despite claiming they did the proper research. And it’s not just Indy; we saw the same thing with Hasbro’s Star Wars retro figures. They're basically recycling the past and asking us to pay top dollar for it, but I’m not seeing the point. Don’t even get me started on those “retro” Marvel figures they tried to push on us.
I mean, I get that nostalgia sells, but what’s the deal with releasing retro figures if they’re just worse versions of what came before? Do any of you actually enjoy these modern "retro" figures, or are we all just getting sucked into the same old corporate cash grabs? Are these really a celebration of the toys we loved, or just another way to milk old franchises?
