>>11392549>>11392576The administration put someone on TV to complain about other countries not buying, for example rice, using Asia as an example. Countries with a lot of land are going to be net importers of produce, the United State has a lot of land but even with a large population, the over-consumes and waste a lot of food, we still grow more than we need of certain things.
However, there are things that do not grow here (coffee is a perfect example). As far as manufacturing goes, toy manufacturers are not ever going to bring that back to the mainland USA, at best, it will be brought back to Mexico, as part of a free trade agreement between Canada, the USA and Mexico. Some things like semi-conductors and some car assembly or car parts can be brought back to the mainland USA but by and large ALL manufacturing is never going to come back unless and until things like pollution, salaries, worker's comp, social security and taxes were all reasonably uniform country to country.
Western countries like the EU and Canada, and to a great extent, say Japan, have this normalization but places like China and Vietnam and other countries are hell holes where they aren't, and that advantages those countries and their manufacturing. And no one is going to agree to stupid things (well except for idiots in Florida) like child labor and only a few states use prison labor (equivalent to the slave labor used in China and Russia) to do any real manufacturing in the USA and no one is set up to really do things like manufacture a car or even just a toy in a USA prison.
