Paint scuffs are pretty much inevitable if you do it more than a few times too. I passed on it initially because I knew I would be afraid to ever transform it.

Maybe it's simply a bad idea to try making a transformable Zeta. There's just too much "anime magic" involved that doesn't obey the physical laws of reality of a toy. No figure/kit has ever really gotten it right.

Worse, even the plastic is getting scuffed, you can tell by the edge of the wing binder that is held by pure friction that has to be slid under the crotch T piece.

it seems to me they went all in in the transformation gimmick in the MB, making it overcomplicated and painful to pull off, thus sacrificing mobility inm MS mode and not to mention the extras

imo, the best Zeta that pulled off both transformation and look is the metal robot spirits, I have the amuro colors variant and it is a joy to handle and the transformation is not as hard to pull off

I shouldve gotten that since I love the white unicorn coloring but oh well.
Also I double checked just to make sure it isnt a mold indent, it's plane damaged.

Honestly it's less bullshit than the proportions fuckery that Macross used to have to do in the cel animation era.
I know the Zeta has its various proportion balances across toys and model kits, but I'll be the first to tell you the VF-1 Valkyrie is fucking cursed with impossible proportions that every plastic interpretation of it has had to fudge in varying ways to strike a balance in aesthetics.

Plus, I think Gundam was quicker to figure out transformation patterns that adapted to model kits than Macross was to getting to high quality perfect transformation toys, and a lot of it is because Gundam sticks to a very primitive but effective "just bend the limbs around and put the shield over the chest for a vague aerodynamic form" rather than try to look the part of a realistic combat jet like with Macross. The Wing Gundam is fucking genius for how low effort simple it is to shift to bird mode, and I kinda envy that simplistic elegance sometimes.

That's part and parcel of every Metal Build figure. You're not buying them for being robust action figures, but how well they display. I'm actually surprised how tough the transformation joints seem to be on Zeta and how many locks there seem to be. I might just transform mine when it arrives.

The firing effects are not included, they are effect parts of Kotobukiya, the Big 1/72 version of this guy comes with then
2 swords
A pair of pistols
A rifle, but unlike the big figure, this one is a chunk of plastic that cant open or close the scope or extend the barrel
As usual, you get a black box with a surprise part inside, in my case another pair of pistols, one colored gold and another silver

The eyepatch that the big figure had is missing too
A pair of button batteries go inside the head and You activate the LED with the magnet of the little base with the name of the mech, the eyes lit up with a very bright green color

The box is about the same width/height as the SOC GaoGaiGar I got last month, but about twice as deep. More importantly it weighs A TON - almost 10 pounds! I really like the backpack/sword connection, but I feel like leaving it like that is asking for a housefire. It makes sense for Bandai to do a Ver.A.N.I.M.E. Hyaku Shiki before they do a Ver.A.N.I.M.E. Zeta Gundam. The Hyaku Shiki first appeared in episode 9 of MSZG, where as the Zeta Gundam first appears in episode 21. That, and a Ver.A.N.I.M.E. Zeta Gundam would canibalize sales of the Metal Build

Two days until I can pay so I'm not bothered. I'm also getting my chink robot tiger delivered tomorrow, it'll make the wait better. The only thing I'm bothered by is the sheer size of the boxes. I've been procrastinating making room for boxes for months but I won't have much of a choice soon
