>>11409742McFarlane doesn't have 'fans' outside for his Spawn shit and a few people who will lick his balls, no matter what he shovels out. As others have pointed out, those are peg warming at Best Buys, Game Stops and Targets (maybe even WalMart, they don't have those where I live).
These basically replace the Diamond Select Gallary figurines, which used to sell for between $19.99, $29.99 and $39.99, which is the range that McFarlane has them priced at retail, not $50.
McFarlane's problem is that he is selling these essentially static PVC plastic resin figurines/statues for $39.99 and something similar for over $100 (and as much as $169 in a few cases). Sure, a particular sculpt by a really popular comic book artist, might be able to sell at a higher price point, but these are all essentially hard plastic. They are even good quality polyresin, and they certainly aren't porcelain.
These were previously bought by the people who were LCS or Think Geek customers who wanted a few collectible figures of particular characters or particular events/comic book scenes, and they aren't going to buy 5 different Spider-Man or 5 different Hulk variants of this, no matter how comic book accurate they are.
