Instagram is not a good place to post vintage toy shit. Algorithm doesn't like the topic and adding to it, there is a good chance you had a shitty page not set up to maximize and game the algorithm the best you can. From my own experience, you need to post stories and use hashtags to promote your shit and be more proactive in coming up with ways to get your shit to stand out.

The shadowbanning test is if you do a search for any of the hashtags used, and your post doesn't show up on any results for "recent".

I have a friend who loves collecting old toy ray guns and 60's space tv show memorabilia (she and I are huge Star Trek OS nerds), I actually found a really cool book at my local discount bookstore on ray gun toys through the years. Really sad to see how the craftmanship went to shit in the 70s and beyond.

I feel for you, I hate the Instagram algorithm.

Didn't the IG 'recent' search stop working years ago? During covid I believe. They changed how you find new account/accounts with low interaction so even the 'recents' search still shows accounts with lots of likes. This has been a common complaint the last 2-3 years. It's virtually impossible for new accounts or accounts with small followings to grow organically on IG now unless you lead people there directly from some other social media platform.

nta but IG will still randomly shadowban your post if they don't like a hashtag a particular day they think is being spammed. Their AI system will flag posts as spam if you do a cover img with txt and then a clean pic after. It's truly the worst site now whether you've been there for days or a large following from years of work. Oh, but if you PAY them for your account to reach more ppl suddenly the problems go away just like blue checkmarks on X
