What is this recent trend of American toy community endorsing and approving Chinese bootlegs?
If they are too poor to afford high-end figures, why not just stick to marvel legends and fuck off from foreign toy line?

The shitty Marvel Legends in the pic is still more than 2x the cost of the CT Toys bootlegs. Neither is good, but if you're on a budget (which many are since the fuck wad in office has thrown the economy and many businesses into chaos), that's the cheaper option

You're talking complete bullshit. Did you ever handle a CT toy? I have way too many figures and up until recently didn't have a single bootleg, but these guys are doing god's work. I'm not saying they're the best ever figures, but they ARE great. You pay like a third or even less for 85-95% of the original quality.

Of course I prefer authentic toys for quality and peace of mind. Plus, I don't want these companies driven out of business eventually. Bootleggers are leeches. But so are official manufacturers with worsening QC, FOMO shit, pre order DLC and a lack of rereleases. If a gray or black market offers competition and a low bar for entry for new people interested in the hobby? That's great. Also, say you break a figure - China's got you covered. With custom releases like Agent Antivenom and Hellverine they're not even simply stealing anymore.

This didn’t happen overnight. I just pulled out a box of old bootleg Transformers combiners. They’re ultra cheap downsized versions I used to pick up for $4 a pop. People beyond scoffed at them and laughed and called them trash. We have reached a point, about 15 years later, where they are unironically better toys that McDonalds toys. The big companies got greedy and made everything shitty while the bootleggers got hungry and decided it was time to eat. Then came the Transformers Masterpiece bootlegs. After a few rounds of iteration they started to become almost indistinguishable from the real thing. This is when Hasbro and Mattel should’ve taken evasive action but did not. Finally there came a a Optimus MP-10 bootleg that improved on the original and that was the day that bootleggers got the big companies by the balls. From there it’s been a battle and some people took the bootleg side. I personally won’t forget the days when any bootleg was universally derided and you were best off just keeping it to yourself and not posting it. The bootlegs are just better toys for the money now so everybody respects them and the big guys are retarded jews

Final note: I’m well aware that there have always been many bootlegs of anything but the Transformers bootlegs started this new trend. It was after they saw the TF MPS become profitable that we got a wave of other junk figures that poured in to eBay and some still haunt the site to this day. SHF Like Skywalker and a bunch of Revoltechs come to mind. Seas of bootlegs flooded the site.

So in conclusion, blame Hasbro for this. This all started from their greed, lax employees, and inability to control their own IPs and manufacturing processes. I'm not American so it doesn't really affect me. I'm just pointing out that across the board the quality and standards are quite far behind where they should be. Even pic related looks extremely goofy, like it's a stiff robotic mannequin. 20-30 years ago I was getting stuff from Japan and China that looked and posed a lot better and more natural looking when in poses, articulation cuts even getting blended in better than this. It costs me the same to get it from either 3 countries, so again this doesn't affect me like it does you.
