This had very efficient looking packing. All the boxes fit into the bigger box evenly. Now time to bite the bullet and look for QC errors and try to mitigate. Unfortunately my only real experience with work like that was the Legends Black Widow where I might have made it worse fixing her since the torso was far too loose afterwards.

Given the extremely simplistic nature of wild kings combiners, i think they just saw earthspark not doing well at all in japan and started plotting this as a cheap, kid line to boost sales.

Cyberworld was more a filler while they speed up their next major production.

You don't need to remove any pins. Get a small, flathead screwdriver and slot it into the armpit screw at an angle. It took me less than 2 minutes to fix it. Trying to remove the pin is too risky since it's pretty big and you could damage or bend plastic trying to remove it

Tightened up Tripredacus' hips and thigh swivels with a tiny bit of superglue. Now he's much more stable. NGL I think he might be peak combiner.

>Only partsforming is his weapon (and even then the components are all used in every mode)
You could theoretically improve him with a remake (notably his right arm) but I doubt an official update would actually be much of an improvement. And honestly, given this guy is almost as old as me, he's genuinely superb. He holds up magnificently.

Spychangers themselves come apart with a small philips driver. I just also collect a lot of 1:64 shit and have drilled some of them apart to mix and match wheels. All the spychangers I have are 12mm rear wheels, with 10mm fronts, which is surprisingly common in hot wheels. The axle width varies, but you can find adjustable axles on ebay, as well as wheels themselves.

JR's talked about how they cut multiple appearances of the DJD, and if the rejected panel of Tesarus is anything to go by, it would have been a lot more violent.

But his character even with that in mind is misunderstood and no one can decide if he's a good or bad antagonist because people who hate sincere edge would never like him and people who see his addictive personality/facade as a good thing wont be heard out by the other.

I want a new Cyberverse toy of him, personally. He got his chance to shine without JR's shit dragging him but I still want to see more of him just being a product of Megs in general.

As a whole, the DJD came off as a play on groups like the Akatsuki/Phantom Troupe which would have been big at the time since both Naruto and Hunter x Hunter were still airing and massive. But both of those had all the time they needed to flesh out every member and show the contradictions of their actions and their intentions. You had the irredeemable ones, but the leader was always written to hide something trauma and/or emotionally tethering.

Tarn had all the hallmarks of hypocrisy and a hidden story, but they rushed it. Which does make him come off as a parody. But it's the effort in the details about him that make it seem like it isn't

Got a small haul today - finally shipped my MP DK-2 Guard, Scrapper, and the DNA upgrade kit for my Dino King from my private warehouse.
For a literal who, DK-2 Guard/"Black Iron Hide" is pretty nice - I already had the Generations Selects version of him, but this one is automatically better just by not having his robot feet sticking out of his rear in van mode. His colors are nice, and he comes with a ton of accessories, most of which I'm assuming were from the original Iron Hide release. I love the little Combat Deck (even if it's not part of him like it was on the original toy), and it's neat that you can clip ALL of his accessories - even the face plate you didn't use - to it. He's also got a cardboard cutout of his 'Cybertronian' face that you can put in his windshield so you can do the whole 'headless' thing, but he actually has the same face sculpted to the red piece inside his chest, so you don't really need it.
Scrapper is pretty basic, but I'm enjoying him - the last time I had a Scrapper was around Christmas of '92, and he was smaller and yellow. Incidentally, between me and my brothers, we only ever owned Scrapper, Scavenger, and Mix Master (my parents didn't know they were a combiner and only bought the individual bots - one for each of us - instead of the box set), so I've never owned a full Devastator before. I know you guys have your nitpicks, but since this will basically be my first Devy, I'm looking forward to getting the whole set.

I can see that reading then, sure. Didn't think of it like that, though I also didn't read either of those you named since I'm not into shounen, so I can't really compare for myself.
Though, regardless of how one read the intention, he still came off as comedic to me, and I dunno, I felt the DJD's deaths satisfying in that context; a bunch of fools getting met with the reality of their actions. I can't really call that much "unintended writing", so I also can't really be brought to call them poorly written; just, maybe unrealized in their intended form. Sorta like how Galaxy Force is a fun show on its own merits, but doesn't fulfill its intended role of closing out a trilogy. (Except, I don't think MTMTE suffers for the DJD going a different direction).
..One thing I will call poor was not keeping Tarn as Roller, though. That was wholly unnecessary.

People who like non-show Beast Wars and especially Beast Machines toys are truly fucked because fiction takes priority, and most of these guys have almost no fiction attached. BWII/Neo saves most of the general designs, but even that is lacking in priority overall. Like even late G1 nobodies will have some 80's kid who got the toy on their birthday who will try and push them to get a new toy, toy-only guys from the 90's onwards are screwed generally.
I'd love a new Skyshadow, but I'm also not sure how good it'd be in terms of paint and detail compard to the old one. The old one lacks a waist swivel, but surprisingly even has rudimentary ankle joints, something that confounded me back then since I never had a toy with that sort of articulation before.

Honestly not really, my nostalgia is tied to the art and the original toys. I wouldn't want too extreme a redesign.
I'd be fine with something like making his lizard hind legs more accurate/making his robot mode feet not just the beast mode feet, or making the Iguana head a more proper iguana, but I like stuff like the beast head hand(and the hidden hand behind it)- I'd be ok redesigning the hidden hand to be able to slide down from the beast mouth while the head slides up though, but I'd like the option to keep the beast hand too.

Anyways yeah, it was teased for a while that Roller (the transformer, not the drone) was supposed to have been captured by Megatron and groomed into The Ultimate Decepticon, but fans figured it out too quickly, so Roberts quickly pivoted Tarn's identity to being some other unrelated dude to maintain the surprise. I like Roberts' writing but thought this was stupid, though this comes from his biggest issue being "too plugged into the fanbase", so honestly in the grand scheme, there could be (and have been) way worse flaws in a writer.

I'm a Monster Hunter fan, so it was a bit of a no-brainer - most MH merchandise of the actual monsters tends to be static statues (the Hunters tend to get most of the merch). The S.H. Monsterarts figures are a thing, but they're almost twice the price of Rathalos Prime.
Besides, he's got a (kinda short) Charge Blade as his weapon - I can't think of any other MH figure that they bothered making one for, as they usually just give figures a Great Sword, Sword and Shield, or Long Sword and call it a day.

New parts present on this retool are to accomodate that it looks like an Rathalos Armor, the collab is excencially Optimus Prime having scalled a Rathalos, so he assumes the form (& the gear that a hunter has when wearing his armor)

I've got both figures right here (including the Dramatic Capture version of ER Prime), and SS86 is so many leaps and bounds better than ER in terms of proportions, articulation, sculpting, and transformation that it isn't even funny. If you're happy enough with your ER Prime that you don't feel the need to get SS86, then that's fine, but your comparison is pure copium.

What's your point here? If you're trying to say that the MP36+ release is accurate to a Walther, you're wrong. Changing flat gray for chrome doesn't magically change its shape. That mold will always be a gun that looks similar to a Walther, like the cartoon model, but isn't trying to be exactly like it. And that's what they could have done for the SS86 accesory instead of whatever the hell that thing in the pics is.
What's even weirder is that they already released a perfectly serviceable one five years ago in the Centurion Droid Set.

Yeah, for whatever reason, a bunch of the characters in the image had various body parts frankensteined from other recent figures. For example, part of Alchemist Prime's legs belonged to Legacy Dragstrip. Most likely, the designs hadn't been finalized before the image was being made, so the artist filled in the gaps with chunks of other toys. So don't worry, Alpha Trion won't actually have Tarn/Bludgeon's crotch.

It really doesn't matter what color that is, though. The toy was chromed metallic silver. The show model was based off of the toy and tried to approximate the colors. That's all there is to it - his toy was shiny silver, so his show model was also intended to be shiny silver; several of Megatron's 'premium' toys, like both of his recent Netflix ones and his Premium Finish toy, are painted silver instead of the cheaper flat grey used in the normal releases for this exact reason.
I'm not sure what's so hard to understand about that.

Because it's hard to draw silver. The color relies on the way the surface of the material causes light to refract, and that is not an easy thing to accomplish in 2D. You'll notice that every 3D Megatron IS metallic silver, because there's an engine to simulate light and a model to bounce it off of to create the correct effect.

I just jumped in on this conversation, I haven't been replied to until you. If Megatron was supposed to be shiny silver, he'd look the same as certain chromed pieces on Optimus, or Grimlock. He's gray. This is what the cartoon and film show us. And the characters have those black and white streaks on all parts of their bodies, it's just a nice animation trick to give the models more detail. You going to tell me Starscream's blue arms are supposed to be metallic too? Prowl's white parts which also have those dark streaks? You're trying to apply a rule to something applied to everyone in the movie to which your rule wouldn't subscribe to.

Yes, the cartoon and movie changed things, simplified them. It doesn't change the fact that Megatron was colored differently from the way they depicted Prime's chromed parts, or Grimlock's or any other character whose toy had chrome and a new toy meant to mimic that should follow that.
