I actually really like that run of caricature style toys ROTS and spider-man 3 got. You're right that they aren't as good, but those were 20 years ago and I don't expect much these days. The fact that these have paint apps at all to the extent they do surprises me. I think they have a cute enough kid's toy look to them.

So finally went out to my local Walmart since they had a figure from another line available for pickup. I try avoiding going there as much as possible, always feels like I need to shower after going there. Anyway, sure enough the DC Multiverse stuff was completely gone from the toy aisle. Absolutely wild. I ended up talking the electronics guy over there, he's been reliable for stuff in the past, he used to be my hook for Pokemon cards, and he said that there was a directive from the vendor to remove them from the toy aisle and stick them in the collectibles section. Not sure if it's from WB or McFarlane, but seems to be a directive from higher up somewhere along the lines. Todd seems to think the toy aisle is beneath him or something. Crazy.

Yeah my Walmart removed Todd's stuff from the toy aisle, too. Usually their shelving planograms are something corporate decides so it's a sign they won't be ordering any more of them for the rest of the year.

My Walmart put out a wave of Task Force shit in the collector's section that are going to pegwarm next to the Christopher Reeve with the black shit all over him and the black Green Lantern with the gimp mask. Even his premium super special scalperbait is clogging up his designated containment space, which is why Walmart stopped ordering the main line in the first place.

I've been calling those fucking things cancer since they were announced and now they're going to be the wave of garbage ass bullshit that finally forces my Walmart to blacklist all McFarlane products. Fantastic.

unique sculpts are cool and all but this entire thing was a disaster as a toy line. which is no doubt part of why he’ll be relieved of his duties with it

Yeah Super Powers never moved at my store, either. The DCMV stuff that stayed forever were always weird stuff like vampire Nightwings covered in blood, Max Mercury, Duke Thomas, and that Clark the Barbarian figure with the Kingdom Come symbol.

So it looks like retro toddler shit with 5 poa won't sell even if it's iconic characters like Batman and Superman, and weird hyper violent shit and super obscure characters won't sell even if they have a lot of detail and articulation.

That would mean whatever Mattel pitched would be something mainly iconic but also articulated and most importantly always available. Those are the biggest points McFarlane was never able to hit that DC would want to see, but the He-Man shit has like four pegs at the end of the aisle so they don't exactly have a winning formula like Hasbro and Star Wars.

It will be interesting to see what happens. Zatanna in the first wave would make Mattel billions.

I really don't recommend displaying your toys in direct sunlight. It will not only damage the paint causing it to fade and yellow, but it will cause the plastic to eventually get brittle too after a number of years. It's really best to keep your toys in indirect sunlight. My collection is in my home office that is setup so no direct sunlight hits any of my displays. But I highly recommend you build your own display somehow. Make it your own and unique. Homeownership is a truly rewarding experience.

Right now I have cinder blocks stacked about six high and pallets resting on top of them. It's just enough to put in some shelves far enough back that I can see them but out of the sunlight. The ground isn't very level so the whole thing feels a bit wobbly but if I can put in some shelves to reinforce the structure it should be fine.

Not him but Hawkgirl is a female figure, those tend to get bought up far more than the average non-A list male. Also she is showing midriff so the coomers will be out in full force to buy. That combined with McFarlane's smaller than ever output, the chaos going on in the toy market right now, and I find it highly unlikely Hawkgirl hits clearance, at least online. In store will vary by the number of scalpers and collectors in the area.

Does anyone remember that? How do we go from Adam Strange and Deadshot being $30 (the most recent CE figs) to Hawkgirl jumping to $38? Has Mcfarlane said anything in regards to this?

Pretty sure there will be huge discourse tomorrow when Hawkgirl preorders drop and the average collectors are sticker shocked by the price increase.
