>>11484341I would not have retconned the actual Jurassic world established in Dominion because that is a new, endless setting for story possibilities. Not everything needs to be dinos on an island. Only the underground market and brief scenes really touch on things you can do with dinosaurs fully in the world setting. The fact that Koepp is on record stating he didn't have any ideas for what to do with a "dinosaur world" is fucking wild. This is a rich hollywood screenwriter who broke off any possibility of using that setting just because he has no imagination outside of the shit he has already written 30 years ago.
You can do literally anything from starting more grounded:
- dinosaur as trusted farm animals (instead of just the negative depiction in Dominion)
- dinosaurs in military/law enforcement
- small dinosaur pets
- dinosaurs in both first and third world settings
In terms of a specific plotline for people getting eaten you could do something with a dinosaur rabies thats spreading, causing animals that usually stay away from humans/are well trained by humans to become violent and rampage
To going way more crazy with it:
- get crazed scientists experimenting with mutants and underworld bad guys becoming central players with killer dinosaurs they control like they were toying with in the world movies
- go futuristic, with all the cloning and other advancements in technology it shouldn't just stay "our world but dinosaurs" get into cloned bad guys and futuristic cities, get a cloning base on the moon, have some fucking fun with it.
- eventually go post apocalyptic mad max /planet of the apes/xenozoic tales with dinosaurs retaking the world completely
My point is there's literally countless things you can do beyond "dinosaurs in an isolated island" and the fact that we're 7 movies deep and that's all they want to do is insane.
