It would be great, but I doubt it. LEGO chose to bring back the pirates theme through licensed sets like One Piece and Pirates of the Caribbean. I doubt a new castle theme (like a wave of 6–7 sets at different price points) will be an original one. LEGO seems to be testing castle-related licenses such as Zelda, Dungeons & Dragons, and The Lord of the Rings. The question is whether they’ll finally release one in 2026.

We’re also getting a new Narnia adaptation from Netflix, and LEGO might make sets for that (though it could be minidolls instead of minifigures). I just don’t see LEGO releasing an original castle theme—they even released two castle-style sets this year through the Creator line: the castle and the dragon.

it seems to me that the new death star might be still a similiar size to the old one and i do personally hope it will for space reasons. new v19 managed to be two times smaller than the old old one. the new deathstar will 9k pieces so twice the amount of the previous one, so this might mean they are roughly the same same size. expected improvements:
- smoother general architecture
- better detailing on all rooms. the prison block looks really blocky in the old one
- improved lazer dish
- some people are expressing a desire for panneling to close off the whole thing but i honestly feel sceptical about it
- they might some more effort into the rooms on the lowest floor since they have seemed a bit lackluster to me
Only thing they could add that was in the films is the "screen room" where they looked at stuff blowing up and maybe a lazer tube but that wouldn't really fit in a build. Possible addition of the exhaust port symbolically

If the UCS Falcon released ttoday it would be $1000. I don't get why people are hyping up the Death Star so much. They won't do anything special just because it's the "first even one grand Lego set!".

There are only two options - it's a big static display model with no interior, maybe one technic function for the laser at most, or a slightly bigger version of the old playset one. Either one will be stuffed with retarded greebling that will needlessly pad out the piece count.

I can see a full blown interior being feasible so long as they ditch the throne room that would otherwise eat up too much of the space(its rotj death star 2 so it's not like it makes much sense)

they made a Unicorn Horn mold for Animal Crossing, despite the fact that there is only ONE unicorn character in the game. if they made it a regular horse head, they could have re-colored/printed it for use on dozens of characters

think about another company, like Funko blind boxes, or Disney Doorables, or even Star Wars action figures. those companies make dozens of "new mold!" figures several times a year, with massive amounts of "new mold!" figures. and those sell for a lot less, and likely a lot less volume amount, than your average Lego set.

despite the reputation of it, I don't think "NEW MOLD" is a big deal for Lego. they could easily make multiple unique, amazing new things in each and every set if they wanted to

Lego is not making a full theme for any of those prize machine figures. Paradisa? Fabuland? Space sets with the new colors? None of it.

what Lego expects, is for you to buy a $180 set to get TWO Kraken minifigs, and you can build a cool Kraken Knight boat-castle yourself. and if you want more than two knights, pay another $180 for a couple more.

maaaaaybe those Kraken torsos/legs will show up in the build-a-minifig bins in the Lego Stores if we are lucky (the Lion Knights did) to populate your own created sets

Those are direct references to something that was. Octovikings are a new thing, if they just wanted to nostalgiabait they would have made unique figs of the classic castle factions, not a whole new thing

Zoomer here, I lost my LEGO collection due to a house fire a few years back and it killed my interest completely. I've been starting to get back into it in the past few weeks. My renewed interest is mostly in the pre-2000's and I have been thinking about making a classic town layout. I'm probably just going to buy miscellaneous brick tubs and part out the rest online to rebuild some sets and do some MOCs. Are there any color changes I should be aware of? There's the big ones like the grays and browns, but are there any more obscure ones I should be aware of?

I'm sorry but inflated part count has killed Lego's essence. It just brings so much joy to quickly put something simple together that you can very quickly tear apart and convert into something else. When something is made up of thousands of pieces it becomes too much of a daunting task to take apart and rebuild making it inherently anti-fun

Kind of similar situation as you, zoomer who collects only pre 2000s themes, beside the greys/brown change I have only had a few pieces from old sets that had seen too much discoloration to not be replaced. Unfortnately the real issue I find is minifigures, even with good lots you might have to settle on some cracked torsos.

nobody actually opens the set or puts it together, they just place it in the closet to accumulate value for when they plan on re-selling it in 10 years. giving it a high original price, just means they can charge double that in the future. it's a win-win!

Still need to record the final two MOC videos and the combined Castles video, but I finished rebuilding all my Castle World MOCs from the Lion Knight Castle after the cat busted some of em.

This is all 10 on display together. I have a few extra figures in there and added some water/grass plates to my Forestmen Treetop Tower MOC and the raft for the Witch, but everything else there is 100% from Lion Knight Castle. It all may not be as super fancy as LKC, but these 10 MOCs (9 because 2 of 3 Castle structures are connected together) are way more fun than the one big Castle.

The Tavern, cottage and windmill really add to making it feel like a more full world. I think I may box the parts for the simple Joust Tournament or use the pieces to expand the small dockside the I built with the Forestmen River Raider ship.

Finally completed my Insectoids collection after getting 6969 recently, underrated theme both in terms of design and builds. I've been wanting to start collecting some pirates or castle finally but prices feel so much higher for these themes in comparison to 90s space themes. Had 6024 when I was younger and thought it would be easy since it only had three sets but two of the forestmen minifigs alone go for like $50+, no idea how people army build these themes.

Builds are pretty good but I just hate the aesthetic of the human side, white bright baby looking colors. Older space themes feel like they capture the pulpy feel of scifi while looking nice on their own merits, from MM onward the color schemes went to shit.

It’s depressing on so many levels.

None of the sets are older than 5 years. Clearly got into lego again or for the first time during the pandemic.
I’d wager there’s a couple/few grand invested and judging from the state of things not nearly as much invested in say clean linens?

So I use the basic bright colours liberally enough so it doesn't look drab, but break them up with greys/brown/black/white/tan so it doesn't look like a rainbow clusterfuck either. Tents are a neat idea, that could maybe work with 2x4 bricks for the sloped sides of pavilions.

Long story short it was a single lady with presumably two boys. She was talking about what was in the bin - a mix of the kids' and the dad's - saying "their father, their father, their father" very intentionally. I laughed that with Lego the dad is never safe and that's gonna be me someday. If you exclude the brittle browns and some other particular cases, modern Lego absolutely is worse quality. You can even feel the low quality in the plastic, especially the Chinese manufactured minifig parts. New bricks crack at the sides when built. That wasn't a problem for bricks in the 90s, even bricks that have been attached SINCE the 90s.

I definitely want the City modular but I think I might just end up waiting for a sale on Amazon and getting it there. The Renegade is a Lego store exclusive so I might as well go ahead and get that in one of my rare Lego retail website orders. I have the Amazon cashback card anyways so even if it doesn't go on sale again before retiring and I have to buy at retail price, 5% back on it is probably more useful than 2x points anyways. Spaceships have always been my favorite Lego builds.

Incredibly kino. It's what Lego Star Wars should have been all this time instead of what it ended up becoming. Every single RtG set is a 10/10 for me.
It shows the LSW designers can actually work wonders when not restricted by "accuracy" and fan expectations. Jedi Bob's ship is the coolest space ship on shelves and it's an OC. Minifigs are also great. Gamer Luke, Darth Jar Jar, the new Sith guy in the upcoming Snowspeeder who looks sick as fuck dedpite being completely new and even the two kid brothers get a lot of attention to their prints and quality. Treats like Jedi Bob are just the cherry on top. I'm fucking tired of "Clone #392" that people complain about despite being the exact same as the other 391 clones.

Fuck, man. Rebuild the Galaxy should be the norm, not the exception...

Disney had done wonders with the way they treated Star Wars in the theme parks (Star Tours, etc.) and they were hitting home-runs in theaters at the time (more-or-less) when they bought it. JJ’s storytelling ability begins and ends with setup. He doesn’t know how to follow through or answer questions. It was a movie that was going through the motions to get a story started. The Last Jedi didn’t want anything to do with the setup of The Force Awakens. Which makes the first movie kind of a waste but whatever. And it has outright contempt for its audience. But neither of those should impact quality storytelling within TLJ. The real problem with the Last Jedi isn’t the outline. It is the execution. The problem was the humor. If the last Jedi took itself seriously and kept all the same plot points it might not have been a good sequel but it would have been a good movie. Anytime something serious happened Rian Johnson’s tiny penis shows up on screen and face fucks you with his knockoff Joss Whedon humor. Rian’s attitude was

When you subvert something people care about you should at least do so with emotional weight and consistency. If Luke is truly broken by his own actions instead of tossing the lightsaber away and Rey makes a funny face, he should drop to his knees and weep. If he is broken give it sincerity. There is no humor in that.

Bought 6969 Space Swarm to complete my insectoids collection and find it pretty disappointing, real shame since 6919 Planetary Prowler is a top tier model despite originally being slightly cheaper, but my biggest issue with it is the cockpit. It's so cramped that the armor on the minifigure has literally creased the torso after probably years of sitting in there. I want to modify it to remove the stress on the minifig but feel atva loss for how to fix this one, any ideas?

just because something sounds reasonable doesn't make it the truth

everybody "accepted" that fast food prices went up, because the minimum wage increased. so now that Burger King is paying it's employees more, it's logical to assume that cost would be passed on to the consumer. it sounds reasonable, so everybody accepted it. (kids think poop is funny, sounds reasonable)

nobody thinks to actually DO the MATH and realize that the increase in prices far outreached the wage increase, so by up-ing minimum wage we have only -increased- the wage-gap between rich and poor. (there is a difference between "funny" and "over-doing it")

I'm not saying specifically that "poop=funny" is NOT the correct answer, I'm saying we need an official statement about it. from LEGO

It still pisses me off lego perfectly remade this torso and then put it in a gwp and forgot about it and now it’s more expensive in the aftermarket than buying the original
