on the other hand, I tend to be okay with transformers who found a happy medium. Particularly in the case of stuff that cheats, like, if you can kind of evoke the cheated model, but also make it work well as a toy, i'm happy. the Animated line, the new Beast Wars guys, some of the early movie guys...
