If they do actual head molds it could be good. If it's your typical costume head with a hole for the human head(as those prototype mold leaks seem to indicate) then into the trash it goes. At least there's no temptation to spend money, I won't touch it just like the carshit

Anyone know of any 4-wide helicopters that fit an entire stretcher in them? Hopefully from a 90's set?

I'm building a hospital based on the style of #6380 but inspired by 6398's layout and want to put something on the helipad.

I did some looking on bricklink but didn't find much other than a tandem rotor cargo helicopter

Genshin Impact has done some pretty wacky random merch collabs, it's likely they have already reached out to Lego and were rejected. but I'd give that a vote.

Lego can get by with just City as the non-licensed thing. they can charge more for IPs, so why not just do more of those?

Unlicensed themes usually have a 3-5 year life cycle. Castle would be great. Ideally fantasy era but I would be down for anything so long as there are small and affordable sets so that it may be easily accessible to children. There’s definitely an audience for it. The cmf castle figures are consistently the most purchased figures. The not-themed castle sets are doing good on shelves. I never had a Nintendo console growing up so zelda is just not something I care about.

The Zelda set isn’t selling. I think if they went the animal crossing route with smaller sets zelda would sell but it’s failing the trial run so far. I don’t think Zelda should receive a full theme though. Really Nintendo should just do super smash bros cmf

That’s the beauty of lego. You don’t need the BRAND NEW OVERPRICED SET, you can make whatever you want or look through an endless back catalogue of retired sets.

No I had great parents. I was just more into lego than video games so they got me legos mostly. Our first console was a ps2 and then later a 360. Surprisingly the only Nintendo console I’ve ever owned is a Wii U which I purchased for myself as an adult. And I only ever used it for Smash and Mario kart. 8 player smash was over the top fun and I kind of miss those years.

Really want this one but $150 seems to be the standard. Only started collecting vintage sets after covid so maybe prices were better but even small ass sets below 100 pieces can sell for like $30-50 now.

6482 from the 80s is a 4wide rescue helicopter that fits a stretcher but as you said it's a tandem rotor. It fits a battery box so it can easily be made shorter. And you could examine the rear door to see if it can be made less tall. And then there is 6691 which is a 4 wide regular rescue helicopter that fits a stretcher via a rear door. But the design is quite boxy and the skids make it wider. See if you can combine design elements from both.

The problem is the main characters. No one actually likes them. The villains are really cool and so are the villain sets. And everyone is confused by the tiny weird little dudes. But the sets are very cleverly designed. The builds are fun. They are sturdy and yet are designed to be taken apart easily. And I love the 3-in-1 nature of the sets. Also the color scheme is a mess and I think is the major turnoff for most people.

I haven't even watched the show, I just mindlessly consume Lego because it makes the voices stop temporarily. I like this Falcon a lot, but it is kind of weird how there are no clips or any kind of storage for extra weapons anywhere despite how much empty unused space there is inside. The front middle part (escape pod location if you are a faggot) also looks really bad and borderline unfinished when viewed head-on and I find it really strange that they just left a giant hole in the front of the ship when it could have easily been covered up. The minifigures are great as memes, but the Jedi Vader suffers pretty badly from not having any eye printing.

It's actually even worse on the OT Falcon set this is based on.
But I agree, they could have made much better use of the interior space. More accessories inside, hidden hatches, furniture, etc. But that also makes it perfect for modding and adding your own props and features. It being a meme is quite inviting to add a bunch of random bits and bobs inside. I've only added a coffee machine and an extra bed to mine but now I wanna fiddle with it even further.

Here's a small 90s design I whipped up. Having a 4-wide helicopter that can fit a stretcher means it's going to have a long fuselage plus an aft end.

Price is probably a big factor to that. I mean making a new complex mold with dual-molding just for one minifig is something they don't want to do unless it's important or there's no other way around it. As for a general fat torso mold, it would probably have to be round which would make it harder to print.
But obviously they mainly just want to avoid being offensive. Better to make a comically non-fat minifig than to attract the wrath of the people who look like her. Despite celebrating being 'plus-size', they also get offended it you depict them truthfully.

Lego goes off of precious track records mostly. By and large the only DC sets that sell are Batman. Even if the new Superman movie is successful lego tried putting out Superman sets before and they flopped because the movies were mediocre. Devil’s advocate here: they can’t know if a movie is successful before it’s out. But they don’t see a correlation between movie being good or not and sets selling. They see everything through Sales data. And they also don’t realize that over time fads change. It’s kind of like how that Lone Ranger movie was a giant flop so Lone Ranger sets didn’t sell and lego decided then and there that no Wild West sets would ever be made again. Or the fact that during the game of thrones craze, since a license would have not made sense with the adult nature of the show, they should have had a castle theme. Or that during the still-present dnd and tabletop rpg craze, a theme with affordable sets in addition to large bullshit would sell like crazy. Poor people like Lego too and small impulse buy sets would be very successful. Like me for example. I would buy LOTR sets if there was a 50-100 dollar option. But no if I want two sets that’ll be 1000 dollars plus tax is another 89 dollars because my state is awful

This has been the case across most themes since the whole "Adults Welcome" campaign in 2020. It's no longer a lego-fied version of something you like, it's a model of the thing you like and it just happens to be made out of Lego.

Sadly, I don't see this changing, I see it getting worse. The Jango helmet released this year makes the 2020 Boba helmet, which was already too overdone, look outdated. Eventually, Lego will lose its identity and just be a model maker, and when the millenials eventually phase out of the market, there won't be nostalgic adults to pick up the slack.

We know it used to be precolored but now they use clear plastic with a added coloring agent so the likelihood of it being worse quality is very high(the unintended inconsistent color variation is undeniable). It also doesn't take much guessing to compare your 80s and early 90s bricks and notice they are heavier and fit together with greater strength. Also the cmfs are made in different factories and are of lower quality than minifigs from standard sets. On a positive note the newer clips are said to be less prone to breaking and the grey/white don't yellow as much as they did but time will tell.

Factories move pieces between them too, so even after the Virginia factory is done in 2027, there will still be imported charges.

Wait seriously? How long has that been going on for? I thought all bricks were precolored and that certain formulations like dark red and brown from the mid 10's just had a bad batch.

Also forgot to mention that the injection marks are becoming a lot more visible which means they are pumping pieces out of the molds at much faster rates which is likely bound to affect their quality as well

Eh, it's more like Lego take their own internal metrics and the studio's to decide what movie properties get sets. For example, I'm sure they had a lot of data proving (probably before the first trailer even came out) that something like Thunderbolts didn't have a lot draw so they didn't make any sets for it, but Fantastic Four is trending MUCH higher so they at least made one for it.

But DC specifically is weird because only Batman really sells so even if Superman showed a lot of popularity it didn't really make sense for them do anything with it based on past trends.

He used to be a huge book nerd and i got him some books over the years but his eyes aren't what they used to be and reading now gives him bad headaches. It sucks because I know he wants to try the books I got him but he just can't read for very long. He just seems bored in his retirement. He gets up to golf at 6 in the morning, back home at 9am then either waits for me to come over and hang out or he just watchs YouTube videos until it's time for bed. I've had a renewed interest in Legos and I thought maybe it'd give him something to look forward to doing but maybe you guys are right . He might not find it interesting.

Yes because they use clear ABS pellets and then dye them in the mix. This was "cheaper" to manufacture since you can carry more pellets in clear and then just apply the color they need instead of, say, running out of grey pellets for the new Star Sloppa sets.

Bio-plastics are very cool, like PLE (corn) being used for throwaway items like packaging for foods and bottles, but neither is as strong or durable like real plastic. 2030 is only 5 years from now but we are definitely going to see a drop in quality and most likely 2030 sets will not last 30-40 years like current Lego.

Brand new 2025 Simpsons GWP. I knew the CMFs looked like cheaper plastic because the yellow heads looks lighter yellow than normal, but the fact that it's now affecting the bricks is really sad. I don't know why they're pushing Maul so hard recently. I know he's getting his own show soon but isn't that more reason to lay off him for a while since he'll be in a bunch of new sets. He still has his ship and cheap accessible mech on shelves. Most people already have multiples of him (I know I do since I bought both sets twice)
It's the shitty version without the pupils too. They could have included a Galactic Marine to make army building them easier. Now the only way to get them is the Juggernaut which only has 3 for $160.

I think the new stuff looks better on a shelf but the old is a lot better overall. It's much simpler so kids won't be too intimidated to add or modify on the build - the new ones look so perfect anything extra put on by a kid will immediately stand out whereas the old ones are very approachable.

Genshin is famous for being anti-sexy since it's heavily marketed towards China. only recently did it add a few "whoa!" characters.

it's also famous for making every male character look like it should be a girl (hair styles, outfits) except a couple of 'em. so Lego should be all over that hehe (for example, one of those characters on the apple pie box is a dude, but you wouldn't know that unless you were told)

it will never happen either way. there's just so many other things Lego could do.

another company spends years developing the latest Call of Duty game, hundreds of people work on it, level designs, weapons, play testing, voice actors for the cut scenes, etc. etc.... and they release it and make XX millions dollars

Genshin Impact creates ONE new character, releases it into an already-existing game. also makes XX millions dollars

would the characters sell Lego sets? one character? lol of course not, but it's fun to think they might. (if they work the Lego set into in-game content... maybe? how many extra apple pies did McDonald's sell?)

I loved these sets and the islander ones because they used those good primary colors, or just solid colors. The current plethora of Lego colors is fine but something about "less is more" really hit hard back then.
