The build was very different from the dark magician which had an almost bionicle feel with specialized limbs and armor but also different from the lego marvel figures. The best I can describe it is that you build up a frame that has studs pointing in all 4 directions and then cover it with more familiar parts.
The base started out a little odd with lots of technic brick structure supporting the front zombie torso and tricky positioning for all the blood and tentacles, but after the main structure the rest went together pretty easily.
The set looks pretty good. Honestly the thing that makes it great is that the figure can support itself in a ton of poses and the zombie torso you peg the back leg to is attached to a ball joint, so you have some freedom to adjust the stance. Its good tech others should copy. I wish the colors were more manga inspired but otherwise a great set with a good building experience.
