How the fuck did they manage to fuck up thrice with this franchise?
The second attempt at least ended well despite how poorly they managed a proper card game thing.

Yeah to be quite frank, it takes epic levels of incompetence to completely bust what are essentially miniature automated transformers. That much more so because these complex models were all neatly packed into simple geometric shapes. I don't know, if the goal were to reignite enthusiasm from older fans and thus milk nostalgia, a possible approach would be them using higher-quality materials and greater degree of mechanical sophistication in a similar footprint to the original toy. But not even that is guaranteed to work, idunno

Instead of 100% cancelling old lines I think companies should just slow production down and sell products exclusively on their website and in limited quantities to collector orientated stores. Even if it means they charge more. bakugan, bionicle, plenty of other franchises where the company can just make one or two “sets” per year in limited batches but still will make their money back.

They died precisely because they wanted to copy beyblade. Who would have guessed slow spinning plastic balls wouldn't compare to actual metal tops, which are now in their fastest and most violent iteration yet? Bakugan being about marble shooting hasn't been the focus since season 1 G1 and Bakutech, and every time they divert it kills the brand.

I'm still annoyed how none of the game rules reflected the season 1 anime rules. The closest way to get rules like the anime is to use old Series 1 HSP gate cards and mostly series 1 rules. But also add the series 2 ability cards to the mix.
