A lot of older RD's experiemce plastic cracking, and many of the ones with springs inside as esp prone to stress/cracking. A few of mine have cracked over the years, but nothing too structurally fucked, just some stress cracks. I remember the patlabor line has it in the joint covers, the RD GMs from 0080 onward get it alot in the ankles
