are there any good figures from devilman/devilman lady?

only one i'm aware of is the shf for the og anime but i'm not really a big fan of that design

Fewter makes good Devilman figures. How have the entire line, I was collecting them in high school in the late 90s early 2000, I had to get a job at a cemetery digging graves to afford import figures back then.
Some of them have very limited articulation though. Great designs by the late Nirasawa.

AFAIK, the only proper "full range of motion" figure of the OVA design is the Microman figure and not only is it tiny but the sculpt is kinda shit, with the teeth looking like some fake Halloween dentures.
The next best is probably the Sentinel figure but that one's pretty stylized.

Never understood why Dynamic's protags never got any proper, anime/manga accurate figures outside of the mecha.
Like, what even are your options for a Cutie Honey fig besides a horrendous Microman again, actual dolls and the upcoming Taimanin-reject modelkit?

The ones i know of are

Fewture which had a pretty large line up

Sentinel had Amon with one repaint version

Figma had Devilman designed by Takayuki Takeya

Bandai Variable Action Heroes Devilman in green and flesh color versions that were also designed by Nirasawa

Kaiyodo had a Devilman and Devilman Lady. The Devilman had a bunch of variants

Cutie Honey (1973) will be 60 years old in 2033 so their is a 0% chance of getting her as a figure for when that happens.Oh well life goes on anyway.

I personally liked the Megahouse Variable Action Hero one. Had a more OVA like repaint too. The only "source acurate" modern action figure is Bandai's one based on the old TV anime I'm afraid.

Yeah it is a little odd. Sorta makes sense in relative terms of the popularity of the Dynamic super robots, they are beloved 1000x more than Nagai's other creations. So the toy market does reflect that honestly IMO. Then there's also the media problem. Devilman and CH new media comes along time to time but they never take off so no tie-ins merch. Crybaby, vs 007 and CH Universe didn't go anywhere except some statues. Meanwhile a shitty Grendizer reboot gets a few action figures and a model kit. One new Mazinger movie expands into tons of original kits. Toy companies rather get the stronger IPs when paying the same source, even if it's more money. I think the reason we get weird original redesigns instead for DM and CH is because the media is weak, nostalgia isn't as strong, so they need to spice them up.

Not entirely related, but will probably never get the chance to discuss Devilman Lady again.
Did anyone else think the manga was a bit of a trainwreck? It was fun for a while but the characters were mostly unlikeable, and outside of Sirene's new characterization and another fucking rushed ending, it felt totally unmemorable.

Anything Devilman related after the initial run by Go Nagai is garbage. Including things he adds to it later. The man put his entire energy and soul into that little publication work at the time and it really made it one of a kind.

That's why you get so many inspired to make great works (Berserk, Parasyte, Evangelion, etc)

Yeah its really surprising. I reread the OG Devilman recently and forgot just how good it was. It has a lot of silliness from that time period but was very thoughtful and evocative.
Then you have Lady + Violence Jack which almost read like some sort of fanfiction. I really dont like the idea of Devilman's God being an obscene super tyrant AND never getting his comeuppance. Like choose one or the other.

I think it's a combo of circumstances that's unreplicable that made the manga great. His youth, his success, the publicity from Harenchi Gakuen and how that had to end, the state of the world and Japan...all that came together in a miraculously tight work. Apparently the story was put together as it went which sounds crazy. Ryo Asuka was suppose to die after the birth of Devilman for example. Maybe that was the big difference, when he plans it all out like I imagine he did later they sucked. When he did it on the fly he was a better creator. Because I feel like you can't be great at both methods.
