We didn't get any Space for a while due to the contract Lego signed with Disney (no other space themes besides Star Wars) which was only recently dropped. We did get City Space though and the Blacktron icons set.

Well, they've done the Galaxy Explorer and the Blacktron Renegade which were both remakes of 80's sets, so I am hoping they continue to make those old, larger ships from some of the other old late 80's/early 90's sets.

That stipulation came with some caveats, and expired a long, LONG time ago.

The major stipulation was that they couldn't do space sets based "outside of our solar system" (which is why they still did two Mars-themed space themes in the early 2000s) and those stipulations were dropped after the first LEGO/SW renewal maybe 5 or 6 years in.

Pic Related was already all the way back in like, 2013, or whatever, but seems to be the last big, actually dedicated Space theme we got...

I also see an increasing number of sets made by Chinese companies based on flowers and other things.

Which is kind of a double-edged sword, really. LEGO is so beholden to existing IPs that it has felt like they have relied entirely on trying to push webisodes, cartoons, comics, etc. of their own IPs over the years and it hasn't really worked for anything except Ninjago.

I'm not sure how to describe this without writing an essay, but y'know how old SW had that cool looking guy in the background? and they made a figure of him, and that was "your guy" who you made adventures with?

well you can do that for New SW, but with like, the main people. just ignore the dumb "story" from the actual movie, and create your own.

I do wish [anybody] would do more of the new background characters. every movie or show tries hard to have their own "Cantina" scene with a gazillion background characters, yet NONE of them get any merch at all. not even Lego where it could be super easy, barely an inconvenience, to toss in a couple extra randos in each set

I truly wonder if those [we need a term for stupid multi-hundred-dollar adult sets not targeted to children at all because no child can afford that and no reasonable parent would give such an expensive gift] expensive sets drop off like opening weekend movie tickets.

on release day, with exclusive GWP, they sell 90% of the sets they will sell. like, the GWP increases the initial purchase by a huge factor, but it also destroys the sale of the people who missed it and are sour they don't get the thing that should have been included anyway.

You should hate the buyers who enable that company. Releasing huge overpriced sets for those people is financially the best option, at least for the moment. Which is why most other brands also focus on "adult fans of bricks" with their sets.

America is very spotty with Lego sales
Walmart & Target will sometimes do a "rollback" and bump a couple bucks off the price, but that's not guaranteed or predictable at all. (seems to be based on the quantity? like, if they have tons of a set, it -might- get bumped?)

Usually you have to wait all the way until the sets go on CLEARANCE and then it's rolling dice for the risk of waiting for it to go down more, or taking the clearance sticker price now, and a lot of times poof they disappear before you get chance at it

It will be $35 or less by fall 2026, screencap this post guarantee you will see that price on amazon or whatever by then. It's just Lego themselves that never discounts their sets by a decent margin but other retailers will.

Hell, I just picked up the blacktron set from last year for $56 on amazon a few days ago, you can always tell which sets are gonna be deep discount and I waited for that one too.

No one really cares about soccer much in the states except for hispanics. They have players as skins in fortnite so maybe they're popular with kids? I have no interest but I'm not annoyed by it either.

I think the snake guy is a little "too much"
what like, four eyes? and the eyes are the same transparent color like the other bits, so... are they eyes? or like, lumps on the face? the design seems a little too space-alien rather than ancient-monster, if that makes any sense. round-bubble patterns on the head part, sharp-triangles printing on the torso/tail.

I'm just glad the more interesting minifigs seem to be in smaller sets here. New titan mech also looks good, but I think it's lacking a bit of spice that helps these mechs stand out.

I know the logic of lego making a new (dragon, car, boat, plane, helicopter, boke, mech) for ninjago every year it's because kids change every year (new kids get into lego and ninjago) but is it really true? Like how many cars and planes and mechs can you have until its enough?

It's possible... but we are supposed to get a new original theme in the summer to replace it. Frankly I doubt these will sell, yeah, they look cool but the media, the media is what makes themes successful, such as ninjago and monkie kid. The show was ass and has low viewership and apparently we aren't getting new episodes in 2026 to promote the sets.

The color choice is less of an issue than the figures. Paradisa had similar colors, but had normal minfigs and was thus totally compatible with normal city sets.

The Knuckles and Silver set actually looks really fun. Nothing terribly exciting, but still very accurate and well built
